Having my first driving lesson later... a little later than planned but as soon as money permitted...

Just wondering what your first experiences of driving were? I wouldn't call myself nervous or apprehensive; perhaps its just nervous excitement But I shall let you know how I get on... if I survive that is...

I was really excited for mine, but then again I knew basically everything just needed the experience.

My brothers first was a nightmare, he hit the side of the path and blew 2 of the tyers

Nah, it was fun. Although there were so many things to look at and check during it and I didn't really know where to look first lol. I don't know if I was lucky or unlucky but the instructor was my father, as this is his second job. Sometimes he was easy on me, but sometimes he gave me a proper hell

Mine was on a mock driving course when i was 16.

I find it all pretty easy tbh apart from some reserve manover, but i would have passed probally early 17 if it werent for the fucking theory

My folks made me drive figure 8's around the yard until I had the transition between gears down... they wouldn't let me on the road or get in the car with me until then!!

I was lucky enough to have an instructor with a sense of humour, which put me at ease straight away.

No reason to feel nervous or under pressure really, we've all been in the same boat so everyone is pretty understanding of a learner if they make a mistake on the road.

Just enjoy it really because eventually you'll probably hate driving after a few years. Good luck!

Mine was down a straight country road, must of gone up and down it about 50 times. I dont want to think about how much i spent on lessons and tests.

I was well used to driving before I got proper lessons cause I live on a farm and used to practice driving around the yard!! Then I killed a bird. I've my test in a few weeks, been driving about 2 years though and havnt got caught!

I was used to driving too, but I was nervous because there was more traffic. It was like that for the first 10-12 lessons then I relaxed.

Really just relax and enjoy.

Went round the estate six times, then onto a main road... I got into fourth gear and did 55mph, which ain't bad for a first lesson

My Dad started clucking at me like a chicken cos I was showing hesitancy. Worked wonders.
