You also need a strong decent ref over the 2 legs who will not be intimitated. In the later rounds games hinge of important decisions. We can all remember being robbed by the ref against Barca and if the ref would have given that blatant pen in the San Siro last year against Milan things could have been different.

Spot on. There are so many permutations, and to be honest I dont hold out much hope.

Drogba could be the key -he always raises his game for the CL -and if this is his swansong, as another thread suggests, it could just be this year.....

The top european sides know how to mark Drogba now though, I think they will all fear Torres.

Lucio did a good job last season. But you cant predict what the drog is going to do. It all depends which Drogba Turns up becuase he can beat anyone on his day.

For me at the moment winning something is not in the front of my mind. All i can focus on at the moment is to get our players playing well to their abilities and generating some kind of form, until then we cannot possibly think of winning anything let alone the Champions League.

This competition is Carlo's only hope of hanging on to his job.and while Man U,Arsenal-and dare i say Tottenham are still fighting it our in the Premier League there is less pressure on us now for the Champions League.

We should ease past Copenhagen, after that it's anyone's guess to who lies in wait for the quarter finals and beyond, but as Esk said, establishing some kind of form and getting the 'fear factor' back must be top of our priorities.

Ancelotti knows he has a job to do in the Champions League as that was why he was chosen as manager. But he could be in a no win situation anyway.

Back in early 2000,Del Bosque won the Champions League for Real Madrid but was still handed his P45.

Madness!!

Without any form we have no chance of winning the CL, the way we are playing Copenhagen will be a tough tie for us.

I agree!

Then again, we could be Liverpool, and only perform well in Europe, whilst doing a shit job domestically!
