Why I think Pele is the greatest footballer of all time:

  • he started playing when he was 15
  • he played for his country when he was 16
  • he won his 1st World Cup when he was 17
  • he is all-time leading scorer of Brazil NT
  • he won 3 World Cups - he is the only player to do so
  • he is the youngest player to play in World Cup final and he scored 2 goals in that match
  • he was Brazilian top league top scorer for 9 seasons straight
  • he was Brazillian top league top scorer 12 times
  • he won Golden Ball in 1970
  • he scored 1280 goals in 1363 games

And he did this all by playing mainly as attacking midfielder or second-striker. For me he is the greatest. wink.gif

He canny do keepy up now though

I agree. I hate having to explain I'm not a racist because I'm not and that always sounds so defensive however I get seriously narked when there is one law for others. I used to be a cop and there is a black police officers association which is fair enough until, purely for arguments sake, I suggested a white police officers association with exact constitution and I was threatened with disciplinary action for merely suggesting it. It's never going to go away until everyone is treated the same by everyone so Abbot should go - if she can't express herself properly then she should use other mediums - she's a politician and can access any sort of medium that will allow her more than 140 characters. You have to consider the intent, the same as with Hansen - he was ill considered and should be pulled up and ensure it doesn't happen again but she had plenty of time to consider what she was saying and how she was saying it.

To be honest, the Black Police Officer's Association makes sense because of the historical suffering in society and even in the force itself. As the case of Stephen Lawerence has demonstrated. However I completely understand your frustrations at how if white police officers did the same you get threatened in such away, it's not like these groups are hate groups.

It's a very sensitive matter, again because of the historical prejudice of darker-skinned societies. And the political correctness that must be adhered to today is a direct consequence of that past suffering. Abbot is actually a very smart lady, she's stood up to racism, prejudice & suffering her entire life and when she became an MP it was a good sign of the decline in racism. However she has severely disrupted her name with this tweet.

If she had worded it correctly, because she was right about the 19th century colonialism, then it would've been fine. Her context is not racist, but she's portrayed it that way. This is her own fault.

Yes, she worded it in a very silly way. She should've thought carefully about how her words would've been seen, and especially if the tables had been turned and a white politician had put such hostility into it.

I agree etirely. I could see the point in the BPOA and didn't have an issue with it at all - just didn'tlike the reaction when for sport I suggested the other. There were very important and necessary changes made after Stephen's murder - the vast majority of instituions were racist then and of course that had to change.

The police, at that time, were very 'ist' and every minority/vulnerable group were on occasion mistreated - women, aliens (as the reference was then), Gypsies and any other non WASP group. It's thankfully changed but I'm ever watchful of and angered by the times when it's gone too far the other way. As I said it's not going to change until everyone treats everyone else equally and fairly.

Someone watching Rally Dakar? It isn't the same rally since they moved it to South America. Now without big teams like Mitsubishi,VW and BMW is less interesting.Mitsubishi aren't in Dakar since 2009 I think. This year there aren't VW and BMW.My favourite teams are gone. And the interesting rally too.

I don't know people which rally like more.Paris Dakar in Africa or Rally Dakar in South America, but I like the old Paris Dakar more.

Something that helps me when writing assignments is turning off my internet connection and phone.... no TalkChelsea, Facebook or Twitter to interfere then!

Haha, you got a point there but I need the internet as I have to look up a lot of information. Writing an assignment on the history of North Korea and it's not that easy without internet... but I should really try to avoid visiting other websites such as TC :D

This definitely helps a lot. It's amazing what can be done when we actually bother to turn off our distractions.. Can work for hours upon end and it'll never cross your mind to check Twitter & co.
