I like the idea of valentines day, but I really despise how capitalism abuses it. I mean a single red rose was being sold for 20$ today, 10 times more than the usual price; that's theft!

Yeah resturant near me doing a couples meal deal...for £60! And the flowers agree exactly the same with a random rose thrown in and a bumper price

End of the day it shouldnt be due to one day to make someone feel special or whatever should be that all the time and if someone was gana do all the lovey dovey stuff for me rather they done for a different reason then its a day they feel like they have to do it sorta thing

Valentine's day is a meaningless holiday. It's a day dedicated to capitalism, "buy this and that" or you don't care of your close ones - that's a classical example of exploiting people's relationships for monetary gain. Reality is that every day should be a valentine's day.. people shouldn't show attention to their loved ones only on one day in a whole year, it should be made clear throughout the year so there wouldn't be so much emphasis on a single day.

I heard that most suicides are committed on valentine's, a day that pressures people's emotional attachments - not a single other day has such effect on people, especially lonely people. I personally don't celebrate this, I have my own beliefs.

I'm with Blue Lion, I don't need Valentine's day to show my husband I love him or for him to show me. I see it (and give it) in the little things we do for each other. Like the day before Valentine's day when he went out looking for carnations for me so that I could have my science club kids learn how to dye them pink!

I let my parents know all the time that I love them and I show my love to my kids every day, again in the little things.

These are "Hallmark" holidays that were designed to increase revenue for flower shops, candy shops and card stores!

Right now I am just hoping it will be a BLUE weekend and we can get out of this slump we are in.
