Andrea Pirlo could be poised to make the jump from Milan to Chelsea this summer, if reports in the Italian press are to be believed.

The Serie A season finale is fast approaching and Rossoneri coach Carlo Ancelotti's future will finally be revealed on Monday. But barring any surprises, the 49-year-old is widely expected to leave Milan after eight years in charge to lead Chelsea next term.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the west London outfit are also keen to lure Pirlo from Milan to Stamford Bridge.

The 30-year-old has been an important contributor to the Diavoli's engine room over the past eight years and it is unlikely that former Brazil international midfielder Leonardo, who is tipped to replace 'Carletto' at the helm of the San Siro outfit, will rubber-stamp the move.

Pirlo is contracted to Milan until 2012 and earns €6 million per year plus bonuses. The Via Turati directors reportedly value him at around the €25 million mark.

The World Cup winner seemed on the verge of departing Milan in 2006 when he was tempted by Spanish giants Real Madrid, however, president Silvio Berlusconi eventually blocked the move and Pirlo signed a contract extension.

Milan Consider Swapping Pirlo For Chelsea's Essien - Report

Il Diavolo are thinking about a swap deal which will see both men change places, but the move depends on Ancelotti's future...

Milan have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien in a deal which would see Andrea Pirlo move in the other direction, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.

The report suggests current coach Carlo Ancelotti will take the Italian midfielder to Chelsea at the end of the season if he joins the club, which, according to Italian press, looks likely to happen. Neither club have made an official announcement on that, but there is widespread belief that Pirlo will follow the Italian to Stamford Bridge.

Milan are preparing themselves for the possible change and they will attempt to swap Pirlo for Chelsea's Ghana international. Leonardo is being tipped to take the reins at Milanello, and voices suggest the Brazilian is keen on Essien who would be comfortable playing in any position around the middle of the park. In addition, the Chelsea man can play in front of the defence, giving the team extra options tactically.

The Rossoneri are expected to make an official announcement regarding Ancelotti's future on Monday, where they will have a clearer idea of possible transfer movements for the summer.

Give us Pirlo+16 million pounds for Essien.

Just kidding.

Thats all bullshit.

It would be an absolute joke. We sell Deco, and after all the bloody "we need to get rid of old players and infuse young blood" bullshit we buy another 30 going on 31 yr old player. Carlolloti can leave his milan players back at milan along with his Christmas Tree.

Some sources are saying, Pirlo will cost us 20 million. 20 million for a 30 yr old. Id be majorly pissed if Chelsea go for him. We need young blood in our midfield seeing Lampard 31 next season, we dont need another 30 yr old.
