the wes 7,212
QUOTEChelsea want to land Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson. Boro chiefs are braced for a £5million summer bid for their England Under-21 international.Johnson has seen his first-team opportunities at the Riverside blocked by Stewart Downing. But England ace Downing will leave Middlesbrough in the summer - regardless of whether manager Gareth Southgate can keep them in the top flight. And that will finally open the door for 21-year-old Johnson.Yet Chelsea believe they have the pulling power and financial might to tempt the youngster to move to the Blues.Middlesbrough will recoup significant funds when they flog Downing and Gary O'Neil in the summer but relegation could mean further sales with a mounting debt to be dealt with.Chelsea want Johnson to add to their English quota and believe the talented winger can develop into a Premier League force. BlueLion. 21,491
Well if Real Madrid wanted him, he must be a good player. Can't say I've seen too much of him tbh.
Milan 17,957
Chelsea and Tottenham are understood to be leading the chase for Johnson, but Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal are all keeping close tabs on him, whilst Spanish giants Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring his situation. Johnson has just 12 months left on his current deal at The Riverside - and the Sunderland-born wide-man looks unlikely to put pen-to-paper on a fresh contract. Johnson has told Boro he is keeping his options open, after he rejected their latest offer to renew his deal. Now Johnson knows that he is being tracked by a host of clubs who are all ready to try and tempt newly-relegated Boro into selling. Boro do no want to sell their prized assets, but their biggest summer fundraiser was due to be the sale of Stewart Downing, however that is now off until January at the earliest after he had a pin inserted into his broken foot. And with just a year left on his current deal, Johnson will be free to join whoever he wants this time next year, although Boro will be due compensation. However, compensation is nearly always well below market value and because of that Boro could be tempted to sell. Johnson will take part in the European Under-21 Championship this summer, which you can see live on Sky Sports, and he will be keen to impress in Sweden. skysports.com

chrismada9 1,948
Chelsea in shock Johnson bid Chelsea are set to make a surprise bid for Middlesbrough's Adam Johnson. The England U-21 international, who is on an extended break as Middlesbrough returned to pre-season training, is understood to be keen for a move to the Premier League following the club's relegation to the Championship. Johnson would fetch in the region of £8 million. Johnson has 12 months left on his current deal but the Sunderland-born player recently turned down a new contract to stay at the Riverside. According to the Daily Mail , Chelsea need to invest in homegrown talent in order to adhere to Uefa's impending regulations. Johnson has racked up 70 league appearances during his time at The Riverside. Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate wants to keep Johnson and it is understood that the club will reject all offers for him. However Chelsea are one of a host of clubs currently keeping tabs on Johnson. Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal have all vetted an interest, whilst Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are also believed to be in the chase. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...am-Johnson.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Would be a decent signing for us, but do we really need another midfielder?? If we're going to get rid of Deco, then this would be an ideal replacement. He's young, he's English, and he's full of good talent. A lot of teams will want to sign him from relegated Middlesbrough your thoughts?

warnie_666 1,081
Not sure how Credible the News is but Rumour says we are signing him for 5 million and will loan him back to Boro. How good is he?
chrismada9 1,948
No point in signing anyone if all we're going to do is give them back to their club. I rate Johnson as a left sided winger, but we don't need him. Particularly in a 4-3-3 formation. Joe Cole, Malouda, Zhirkov and even Anelka is good enough on the left side.I want us to sign Aguero, but that's not going to happen, is it?Btw post a headline and a source, don't just assume!
