Enzo Maresca Thread

See this is where my thinking differs...Maresca is a very switched on guy and knows his stuff, but if you take these examples of Disasi and Sanchez constantly playing, making mistakes and keep getting selected then for me it's Maresca not pulling the strings or making certain selections in the team. I honestly think the two muppets above him are dictating a lot of the selections, I actually don't think you can be that thick or naive to keep selecting utter shit without something going on behind the scenes that you can't or will never control.

I beleive Stewart and Winstanley are steering both selections and this club down the river

He's basically had a season and a bit of senior coaching experience (Parma and then Leicester in the championship). Leading City's development side with a bunch of talented youngsters at his disposal doesn't count.

I can see why he maybe doesn't have the guts to 'drop' players like previous managers.   Conte/Mou/Tuchel would have killed this current team with this pathetic attitude.

That he's inexperience is written on his resume. And the club hired him after reading it.

As usual fans tend to overvalued their players, after all they become Chelsea players once they wear blue.

When Chalobah (our best right cb imo) wasn't playing for us where was he? PSG? nope. Take Liverpool side for a second: how many of our players would start for them? displace their starters? Afraid not many would sit on their bench.

I don't think Arsenal would be much different esp because they have the same weaknesses in centre forward. Go lower in the standings, and we start to get competitive, but I think the question isn't then if our players are as good as, but whether they are significantly better and give us a competitive advantage or not. There are no qualifiers here, btw. "He's young and will develop" does not matter one bit.

Now, could this team fight for CL? I believe it could, as it did at some point. I think the question is to explain the very obvious drop in form, not to mention fitness, that has taken place. Players are running a lot less, playing with less energy, and intensity.

Now that said inexperienced manager is incapable of leading an unbalanced roster into CL in his first term (remember Arteta?) shouldn't really be a surprise to us, or the owners who hired him knowing exactly who he was.

If the club sacks him this season, that will only show the exact value of the so called (long-term) project they've got.

Nah I don’t think the two of them have the brains to pick a team consisting of 11 players. They are muppets. They and Clearlake really have set this club back a good couple of years on the pitch anyway.

Every manager seems to have these sort of 1 or 2 guys though where you ask why they the fuck are playing them regularly despite poor games/mistakes/missed chances costing us points.

Disasi was usually always in with Poch last season despite being a mixed bag. Been Sanchez and Jackson with Enzo this year. Mourinho with Ivanovic when he was utter dog and dropped off big style. Tuchel with Werner & Havertz. Conte with Morata, Bakayoko….
