Enzo Maresca Thread

Sky Sports reporting its very likely he’s safe regardless of how the season ends. And that the owners think he is not a million miles away from achieving the goals outlined to him.

If true, my dislike for BlueCo & sporting directors is at a new high. Idiots.

The Directors already said that over a week ago, end of the day they need to strengthen the team in a few key areas, any manager will struggle for consistency with this current squad.

Good to see Enzo finishing in CL, and even more reason to give him the trust and finances he deserves to improve the squad. It hasnt been perfect all season, far from it. But also has been some not so great conditions at times.

44>63>69 progress in points last three seasons.

Defense also. Last season we were 12th best defense now 3rd. Only Arsenal and Liverpool conceded less. And Fofana was out almost all season, Lavia big part and he makes huge difference. CF and LW priority. And one CB. Also backup for Cucurella. But we should target for example for LW Rodrygo or Williams not Gittens or Garancho. Fix issues and Maresca won't be a problem at all.

Maresca decisions have been questionable after a good start and his personality puts me off. Imo he comes off has grumpy/holier than thou without having the results in the game to warrant that kind of treatment.

Continue with him next season but keep plans in place for a future manager

Great that we got CL, but equally it feels to me he got a bit lucky by riding the coat tails of our form from last season and then getting found out once he fully implemented his system (around late Nov.) For me, we could easily be 8-12th by Xmas next season unless we nail the players he wants in the Summer and we don't get any injuries.

This said, I may be a little biased as I absolutely dispise possession football for possession footballs sake and tactically inflexible managers.

In reality we limped through second half of the season to get top 4. Lot of results went our way in other games.

Unless he changes his philosophy and stops trying to be too clever with players like Caicedo & Reece playing in unnatural positions then he won’t last another season.

Personally would have been happier if he leaves after the tinpot European final. He just doesn’t get the culture of the club (neither do BlueCo) or have the right personality or credit in the bank to get away with what he says. He is an insufferable little cunt most weeks pre and post match.

Even today his presser afterwards saying he’d tell folk to fuck off because of complaints about lack of experience etc. We fell off the wagon partly because we don’t have people with experience and knowhow to see games out and get over the line when we are not playing well. A blind man could see that.

Im not a fan at all but if he carries on showing the passion he did at the sideline today.. he will grow on me. Now stop making bizarre decisions and play people in their proper positions. Look at Reece James today.. says it all.

After viewing his post-match comments, I'm very much in agreement with you about a need for an attitude shift. Really needs to create a more positive mindset. Probably no small wonder that players like Palmer seem off the pace.

His words:

“All the ones that have the answers or the ones that have the truth, they were saying that we are too young, we are not good enough, they were waiting for Aston Villa to drop points for us to achieve the Champions League. They were saying that we were not able to win on this pitch because we are too young, because we are not experienced.

“Unfortunately for them, they have all been wrong. All the ones that have the truth and have the answer to everything.

“So in English, how you say? F off to all of them, because the players deserve that. The effort they have been doing is fantastic.”

I get the us vs them mentality, but he should be humble enough to accept that a lot of things did go his way with regards to other teams. And shitting on a portion the fan group, big Ange style, looks weak.

Ange is another one who made the most of an easy Europa league run, and now looks like a hero despite racking up 20 plus losses and a negative goal difference.

Things like this bug me, spurs finished low in the table right? So what this season they have a European cup and champions league next season, that’s a better season than Man City arsenal and us even if we win the ECL, no one remembers where u finish in a league for one season but they remember the cup you win, league position for most is for Europe spot, spurs got that finishing 4th from bottom.

Conference and top4 is definitely better than 17th place and Europa.

my huge doubt is about madueke

I hope Chelsea offload sancho and mudryk, but about noni I have several doubts

We will have neto, estevao, palmer and probably madueke.

I like him but I think he is not good enough for long term and if we receive a good offer I think we need to take him and buy another player for his position

departures: nkunku, felix, disasi, badi, fofana, mudryk, sancho and KDH

finally, what will happen with veiga?

a sales simulation with euros:

nkunku - 40M

felix - 25M

Disasi - 10M

Badi - 10M

Fofana - 25M

Mudryk - 25M

KDH - 15M

At least 150M euros that we may receive this summer

We will have a lot of money to spend. Lets hope that board do it smartly

It's all in the eye of the beholder.

I mean, we gave Roberto DiMatteo full credit (and rightfully so) for winning the CL and FA cup, in an otherwise mediocre season domestically, but the point is that the facts eventually catch up. And in DiMatteo's case, the team performance in a few knockout rounds weren't enough to guarantee long term consistent success.

And that's my point with regards to Maresca and Ange. Full credit for their achievements this season.

But let's not pretend there weren't any problems. More so in Ange's case, tbf. If he wasn't facing a below par United side in the final, the paper talk and the fan talk would be vastly different right about now.

Not really, their trophy is better than the one we could win and we both achieved champions league football, doesn’t matter how u get there the fact is they got there

It matters when you see who among Spurs and Chelsea can make the step up now. We are well placed to kick on, make this a title winning team

But that’s a separate thing, I didn’t claim spurs can kick on infact I doubt they will with ange in charge, my point is league position only matter when it actually counts for something
