Matterz 67
Couple positives about Rjikaard, who is now the bookies favourite, his barcelona team produced entertaining but winning football, he knows the european game well, and has a fair amount of respect. The major facto for me though is his age, I believe he is 46 which means he could be around for many years if he does a good job. Yes he is a bit of an arsehole, but thats exactly what everyone who doesnt support Chelsea thinks of Mourinho.
Steve 10,227
I'm the Rijk man for the job FRANK RIJKAARD would be interested in taking over as Chelsea manager — but not as a stop-gap. The Dutchman, 46, is currently out of work after leaving Barcelona last summer. His impressive coaching CV includes the Champions League — a trophy craved by Blues fans. And despite seeing four managers sacked since Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003, his agent Perry Overeem belives there would be no fear factor. He said: "Frank is obviously a big fan of the game and so he can be interested in working in the Premier League. “He would consider every serious job offer from one of the major teams in Europe and obviously Chelsea and the Premier League is one of those.” “Of course the reputation of Chelsea doesn’t make it a lot easier and Frank would take some more time to consider the opportunity, but I don’t think Frank will be scared off by those statistics. “He will just think of himself as maybe the one candidate who can stay there longer than those earlier coaches. "“It all depends on the plans Chelsea have. It would be a fairly long-term plan, not just for one or one-and-a-half seasons,” The Sun
EskWeston 696
For me there are not many candidates who would fit the bill of what we are trying to achieve, we need someone who tactically can be astute enough to make big chances to a game, and someone who can build for our future. Looking at what seems to be available i would say the choices we should be looking at are: Hiddink Rijkaard O'Neil I am a bit disturbed by the news coming from SSN that there is only 2 people on the list and the new man will be announced in 24 hours, and those 2 are Grant and Hiddink. Matterz 67
To be fair, at least we know what to expect from Grant, he did get us to the Champions League final afterall! He is a lot better than most other candidates, would rather have him than Mancini or Ancellotti

chrismada9 1,948
Just think though, it wasn't just Grant who urged the players to perform well, it was Steve Clarke there as well. Just imagine if Grant had to do everything on his own, and Ray Wilkins isn't as good as Clarke IMO.
Fulham Broadway 17,312
Grant got us to the CL final ? Would dispute that. The players got too the CL final despite Grant in my book, and Grant over Mancini ? having a laugh ? Actually quite fancy the two Robertos, Mancini and Di Matteo would be fantastic. Both played at Lazio, and Di Matteo is probably better than Clarke as an ex Chelsea man
chrismada9 1,948
mind you... what about Didier Deschamps? he's played for Chelsea, and has taken MONACO to a Champions League final. Fulham Broadway 17,312
Deschamps has had a few negative things to say about CFC over the years, and I dont think the squad would respect him, but if its true the club just want a temp, could be anyone. Matterz 67
Grant took a side in a similar position to what they are in now, who had just lost our beloved Jose, and besides everyone hating him and the supports against him and the players against him he still took us pretty damn far, yes the players obviously contributed enormously but Grant has to be given some sort of credit for getting us through arguably one of our most difficult patches and he did it with everyone against him and under huge pressure

Try the archives. If he returns to SW 6 there will be protests, and only a matter of time before he is lynched, and if he had any self respect at all, which he doesnt he'll stay well away. Alee. 182
If Grant comes on, it will be as temporary till we get someone like Riijkard in the summer.
James 5,310
Hiddinks is in talks with Chelsea about becoming the manager for the rest of the season. Hiddink said he was approached by the Premier League club to coach the team until the end of the season after Scolari was sacked on Monday. "I must say that this is an exceptional situation. If it was any other club aside from Chelsea my answer would be a straight 'No'," he said. "But Chelsea is different because I have good relations with the (club) owner. So I would like to help them in this situation if I could."
Fulham Broadway 17,312
Hiddinks is in talks with Chelsea about becoming the manager for the rest of the season. He said Chelsea is the only team he would be interested in, anyone else, no. Well that would be good, if it's a reliable source. Abramovich has probably said he can go back to preparing Russia for the World cup in May. Abramovich will not be popular in russia if he takes away their World Cup hopes -unless he finds a replacement for the national team
James 5,310
Its on Sky Sports now, Hiddink would not leave Russia and has already combined two jobs in the past.
