Gianfranco Zola: Staying quiet over Chelsea talk

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8575340/

Blues legend Zola has been tipped as a potential successor for interim boss Rafael Benitez at Stamford Bridge next season.

But the former West Ham boss, who spent seven years at Chelsea during his playing days, insists he is committed to Watford for now as he looks to steer them into the Premier League.

Asked if he would like the Chelsea job, the Italian told The Times: "I would like to answer that question but I can't. It would be unfair to other people.

"That club is special for me, but for now I'm committed here."

According to Wilkins there are 4 candidates at the moment: Manuel Pellegrini, Diego Simeone, Gus Poyet and Zola.

No, No, No and No....

Pellegrini is good but it's a big risk, Simeone is average, Poyet?really? and zola like di matteo, need to stay far away from roman.

Just Jose...

It has to be Mourinho who else could it be? Mou has the goods to deliver success to this club and to the people complaining about that he will leave in three years...will he? The only clubs he has actually left are Porto and Inter, he is still at Madrid and he was fired from Chelsea. Besides I'd take three years over 6 months anytime. Three years is an eternity compared to our last few managers. Besides it will be great to see what Striker Mou would bring in, and how he handles the big three, Mata, Hazard and Oscar. Mou is an absolute go at tapping into player's potential and well all now those three have an unbelievable potential.

I hope he continues to play Mata as a withdrawn forward, because let us face it, Juan isn't much of a midfielder is her? In my eyes he is a forward and a bloody great on at that. I see him as similar to Totti or Del Piero but with the potential to be even greater than those two.

Yeah I know because I didn't let everyone know Benitez was going to come before he did.

Benayoun was going to sign before absolutely anyone had a sniff..

Alex and Anelka were banished from the first team before the papers.

And more................

My only worry with Mourinho is that integration of youth into the first team would go for a toss. He prefers players who are already in an class of their own and creates a team around that, very seldom has he worked towards the youth development. He would get us loads of trophies goes without saying as we have a team plus the additions that he would get but then youth mite not get that many opportunities.

It would be a case where we win some lose some ...

P.S: I m not against the idea of him coming back, i would be dancing with joy and celebrating it but a part of me feel it is high time that Chelsea moves out of the Mourinho shadow (which we managed to do this season) rather than going back to it.

I don't buy this at all.

He gave Sam Hutchinson his first game. Scott Sinlcair, Robert Huth, Lassana Diarra (more chance than even Wenger), Scott Parker are all young players given a chance under Jose while at Chelsea. Just because they didn't break through isn't a goo enough reason to claim the Mourinho has a poor run with youth. If they didn't impress at the time they didn't. It's easy to look in hindsight due to how some of them have performed since.

Even Kalou was brought in as a younger player under Mourinho and he got a lot of games.

At Real Madrid, he has brought Varane to the first team. He brought in young German stars Ozil and Khedira and he has given Castilla graduate Alvaro Morata a lot of games. At Inter it was Santon and Balotelli given a chance.

Mourinho is great with youth, just sometimes the academy isn't producing. He has a great eye for talent and if he thinks they aren't worth it, they aren't.

There is a difference between developing a raw talent/potential into something and getting someone who is already described as a upcoming potential.

Just by giving Hutchinson a start doesnt mean anything (we all thought that Sam was one of the next known thing), Ozil and Khedira were already known (United were after Ozil it was just that Jose got him first), Huth is doing pretty decent in a team like Stoke. I agree he has a great eye for talent but then the one he selects are already up there.

Jose is not known as someone who would develop a young player because he doesnt stick around for long. However he once had mentioned that a Manager has to keep evolving every now and then to be at the top and i hope he comes up with something different if he is returns to the Bridge.

This line makes absolutely no sense to me. Developing a raw talent? Someone that is described as an upcoming potential? Aren't they the same thing? It sounds like you want Mou to pick someone out of the academy that no one has heard of. But that's impossible seeing as that if they kid as any talent the daily rags would have mentioned him a dozen times. And if he wasn't heard of the minute he gets called up to the first time, he will be heard of.

It doesn't matter how well known a player is, it doesn't change his potential. A kid plying his trade in the Serie B and nobody knows who he is, isn't any different to the kid everyone is drooling over at Barcelona. They could have the exact same potential...

Name power has nothing to do with it.

It doesnt makes sense to u, thats fine. I may have not been able to put my thoughts properly in words.

U think Jose is good with youth, so be it. It is your opinion and i hope thats how it happens. I believe he is not and i want to be proven wrong when and if he comes to the bridge.

Simple and sweet, win-win situation. :)
