The Next Manager?

So yet again we would be telling the manager what staff members to have, what players to buy. We all know how this is gonna end.

I don't see what the problem is, that's been our way with manager's for years, we have a club assistant who's there regardless of the gaffer (Steve Clarke, Wilkins now Holland) and the manager has spaces for his own staff, like Mou has Rui Faria for example.

If all our previous managers can do it Idon't see why Antonio should or will be an exception.

Conte is from the south of Italy.

This is the most encouraging article I've seen written on a potential Chelsea manager ever. I typically ignore Juventus, so I cannot comment on its content.

http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/features/2016/2/25/11116880/antonio-conte-chelsea-profile

Except that this, I know, rings true: "  If Andrea Pirlo is marked and an out ball to a wingback or a centre forward is not on, then Conte will ask his centre back to gallop forward with the ball. This is something Leonardo Bonucci did wonderfully while at Juventus. It is one of the easiest ways to disrupt an opponent's defensive structure - as they do not anticipate the centre back stepping beyond both the lone forward and the number ten. "

Even if you don't want to read this entire article, take a look at the section called "Profile of Player."

Good read thanks for the link.

Yeah before Mourinho came I wanted a manager that can bring talent and able to work good with a moderate budget. Of course we are a rich club and we will spend big, but not always. We can't spend big every transfer window and that's where bringing in some youth would help.

This why before Klopp and Conte where my favorite choices before. We missed out on Klopp....but even if we was for the running I think we wouldn't have won that one. Because Klopp was big on going to Liverpool. He often talked about the atmosphere like being as Dortmund and that was his pull.

I knew Klopp was going to be bad this season but I thorough expect him to be much better next season.

In similar fashion it would be for Conte. I don't expect to win the tittle next season, we will be the "little horse" but after one season he should also take a better grasp of everything.

As things stands, this leagues keeps getting interesting and more interesting. Before I wanted Pep and Mourinho in the league. Then when i saw Klopp and Conte with Dortmund and Juventus I was like men they would be awesome.

Now we will have Pep, Mourinho, Klopp, Conte, Pochetino, and Wenger. Then you got other mangers with not big pedigree but doing good like Koeman, Florez, Raniere....

Men what an amazing hard league this is about to get. Now if only my crazy fool of Bielsa would come to manage a team like Swansea or heck even Sampoli. Bring more and more top coaches to make this league even harder and harder! ^_^

I was hoping for something like a  Koeman or Klopp (but not actually Klopp, I think, because it seems he was meant to go elsewhere) myself, but it's honestly hard for me to make a decision as I've watched less and less football in the past 5 years. I am sucking up the Conte hype to give my football a good feeling again for the future.  Selling Luiz and finally dumping Torres were excellent moments in recent years, but the return of sour Mourinho was always going to feel like a mix of positive and negative emotions for me.

Conte seems as good a choice as any out there!  I certainly wanted a less-aged manager and this one has very good experience so far!

Under Guus we'd be third in the league right now, easily challenging for the title.

As I've explained in a later post, it is a fairly small sample under Guus, but still we are averaging 1.8 points per match, or a 68 point season, which usually wouldn't get you top four let alone challenge for the title. Even in the current season where all the teams at the top are dropping points, with an average of 1.8 per game we'd still currently be in 5th with 46 points.

1.8 x 26 is 46.8, so we'd have to round up to 47 points which would put us level with City who are 4th, and 6 points off top. If that's not still challenging for the title I don't know what is...

Come off it Skip, no team has EVER won the PL with 1.8 points per match.

Our performances and result have not been anywhere near title-winning standards either. I think 5-1 against Newcastle and City's reserve team has skewed many people's evaluation.

Pirlo on Conte:

Quote

“If you sign him as your coach and then as the owner you want to start making decisions, he is not the coach for you.

“If you let him get on with things and do his methods, then you will have a team that plays attractive football and will, without doubt, be successful.”

“There is a beast in him. I have been in his dressing room at half-time when we have been winning, but he comes in and will be throwing full bottles of water around because of a mistake we made or because he feels we should be further ahead."

“But I can say that Conte is a genius. Like all men who possess genius, he is a little mad."

“The man can be a beast, a dressing room when he is angry is one of the most dangerous places you can be.”

No season has ever been like the one we're experiencing right now either. If you don't think being 6 points off top with 12 games to go constitutes as being involved in the title race then I don't know. Of course we'd have to be a bit better to win it but we'd certainly be around. I don't think the winner of the PL this year will reach 80 points tbh.

it's an outright lie that there's been talks of Conte being more involved with our youth than previous managers

never ever ever would that happen, nor would such a specific piece of information leak out

fuck papers, PR, and all that

Jose spent more than 100 mill in each of the first 2 seasons, stop this myth he wasn't given money.

can we also stop the myth that Jose spent that amount. The club spent that amount but not all were his signings.

The new manager needs to either embrace the fact thats the way it works at Chelsea or convince the board that its his total responsibilty and sign off each player idenrified by himself or the scouts.....like Klopp has at Liverpool after seeing their haphaxard way of getting players in.

While it's true that there's no way the press led know something like that, we may as well disband our entire youth setup if the next permanent manager doesn't bring a few through.

Conte will 100% be told that the likes of RLC must be integrated into the team. This has to be the manager that finally integrates youth, otherwise what's the point? We've been able to develop the best academy in the country and attract the best young kids thus far, but if the next batch of youngsters see that there's no way into the first team that'll change.
