That Kovacic argument is honestly the worst argument I have seen on this website. Comparing Kovacic a player to a football manager doesn't make sense at all.

So in other words, we can only use 'the past' logic when it works against Chelsea?

Someone already corrected me on that part but he still won Europa League that season, which still means he secured the CL spot for United.

If you don't judge managers by what they did in the past, then how do you rate them? We are not talking about Jose going for the title btw, so don't bring that up. We are talking about whether he can secure top four for Spurs.

Which he doesn't have as a get of jail card for another six placed finish this time.

Also if you're so insistent on judging managers on the past, then a bit more research would have showed you that Jose has never since Porto (possibly not even then) achieved either top four or the title from a position where he's chasing (bar I think one week in 2010 when Inter got briefly overhauled by Roma), I'm guessing a change of the goalposts are on the way?

We may have to play injured Abraham this weekend if we get no one in. This kid can’t even rest as we have nobody (apart from Giroud, and he isn’t good enough).

This is really bad. Our top 4 race rivals have gotten new players while we at the moment got nothing.

If we don’t get players in now, the summer window will be awful as one or two players in WON’T CUT IT.

NOw some might say the players spurs and manu have just gotten aint something to clap about, but they saw an opportunity and went for it. To help the squad, to have a better chance for top4.

True but man we are in a horrible position here. This squad is so out of balance, its not like we just need a player to bolster up. We have serious issues all over the place. We could get Telles or Ziych etc. We could easily....easily miss out on top 4 if we do nothing. And that scares me for the summer both revenue wise and player recruitment. You remove Tammy for 3-4 weeks and we are fucked.

I don't agree we easily miss out on the top four if we get nothing, the only team capable of punishing us are handicapped with a Championship manager.

Part of the reason we've fallen so far off the top is were so now focused between 12-17, I wouldn't mind a low risk signing like Mertens but do I look at signings made by United/Spurs and think we should have gone there? No, in my opinion.

If you want to have a discussion just for the sake of winning it. Then you have won. You're so stubborn that you have literally dismissed everything I said. I won't waste my time.

You claimed Jose would make top 4 because he always has in his first season at a club (which in itself is wrong).

If you're so insistent on basing his past on what he will do this season, then the fact he's never achieved top four from a chasing position is very much relevant I'm afraid.

And yet no more than 6-7 pts behind.......thats too risky imo. And I for one wouldnt mind BF, he would do rather well in our midfield I reckon. Ihope he flops at utd though.

Bruno would be the exact type of short terminism/fuck the project signing we're trying to shake off.

We have three academy lads in that position, if we're serious about bringing through our own boys #10/LCM is the last position we should be looking to buy bar a complete worldie becoming available.

And you have hope this board would pull off a worldie? I sure dont. BF aint exactly a crap player, he would give our midfield another dimension, something we badly need, big assist maker. He will be a good player for utd you'll see. And midfield might not be what we need the most but still I wouldnt say no to it. I so so cant wait what we do come summer, it either make or break this board.

Whether they do or not isn't really the point, my stance on it is that I have high hopes with Mount, Gallagher and Ruben that I would only want to buy a player in their position if a bonafide worldie is a available.

Bruno despite healthy stats doesn't fall into that category in my opinion.

I'm not expecting anything and not expecting to finish top 4 anyway. We've been lucky with other teams incontiency really.  All takes is them to have a good run and us to not and bam

Summer worries me because we know what the board are like. Deals dont get done or haggle over the price till someone else steps in. If we do miss out of top 4 doesnt mean we wont have signings just dont think we've got people who can be convincing. See what occurs.

So we'll likely finish January with 0 new players, an injured striker who we heavily rely on, another striker that'll be unhappy because he wanted to leave but we didn't sell him, and a third striker that's midtable quality.

Brilliant organization there, Chelsea board.
