So we are basically subsidising arsenal improving their squad significantly. Great.
should have just let him rot

Not the worst investment in the world from a practical point of view.

The calculation has to be that we won't compete with Arsenal for league places. It's sensible to expect both that we will finish behind them, and that they will get the better of the two fixtures between us. Neither of these things are guaranteed of course, but they are more likely than not. This means that the more points Arsenal take off other teams the better it will be for us among the teams we will be competing with in 24/25.

That covers our practical interests but the emotional ones could be a different story. I'd rather watch Man City win the league until the end of time, than to ever see Arsenal or Liverpool lift the trophy again. If Sterling actually helps them become champions it will be a blow.

"Loan with obligation to buy guaranteed, formally if #CFC will finish among first 14 position in PL table."

Maresca: "Hold my Limoncello"

So, looks like one more winger in the basket but no striker has been signed - if we didn't magically and secretly agreed with Osimhen.

Will be interesting how EM can balance this, I hope Mudryk we still offload somwhere.

Absolutely raging with what went down last night and throughout the window from the very start. These fuckers at the helm are utterly clueless. No Striker again. No serious CBs again. Not a proper GK again. An endless number of wingers to chose from already before bringing in Sancho!!!! Sancho!! The same Sancho who has done next to nothing in this league. What was this decision based off??? What the fuck is actually going on? Its all done on a whim… im not buying all this bollocks that we have a long term strategy to eventually build a 100point team. Its exactly what the haters say it is… a fucking joke.

CFC looked leagues ahead of Arsenal in opening games. I was not expecting to lose to them at all.

Find it hilarious that the entirety of the English media have been silent about how shit and useless Sterling has been for ages at Chelsea but now that he’s joined Arse he’s suddenly a top class player and one of the signings of the window.

Positives:

- Cut throat getting rid of the dross at all costs, prioritising technical skill.

- Took advantage of good opportunities in the market, on excellent terms, for Sancho, Felix, Guiu & Tosin which upgrade our bench which was chronically super bad last year.

- Did not panic buy Osimhen, did not cave to stupid demands from Napoli, did not cave to stupid demands from Osimhen. Simple truth was there all along: he's simply not that good. We were only club in Europe in the end who got serious about him - which is just classic us really, everyone else knows better. He's extremely injury prone, 1 good season in his whole career, skull in literal pieces, can't pass, has Lukaku personality vibes, way more red flags than any other player we've looked at in ages. Given the Chilly+Sterling situations, it is obvious we should not go crazy on Osimhen especially without CL football and in PSR era

- Neto + Veiga look like gems, probably XI material, probably both big upgrades

Negatives

- Didn't convincingly sort out XIs joint number 1 problem which is CB and GK (probably, club obviously have faith in the group - we are all more dubious, I think...)

- Allegedly paying half of Sterling's wages while he plays for Arsenal, and just kicked that can down the road - he will cost us the same as Lavia, Noni and NJ combined per week to NOT play for us. Left it very late to start shopping him around. If we had forced him to train alone from day 1, by the end of the window surely we've found a buyer for him.

- Failed to get rid of Chilwell, who will probably be almost impossible to get rid of, as he looks like a Championship player but on 200k a week and unable to stay fit for more than a few weeks at a time. Hopefully we will at least ship him off to Turkey (maybe Jose would take him?) and cover 50%+ of his wages again.

- Have not sorted out a physical, classic number 9 for the squad: looked a bit at Sesko (chose to stay for another year), Samu (collapsed, probably for best), Duran and of course Osi but ended up with only 18 year old Guiu. We have to hope that NJ stays fit but we do have Felix false 9 as option now and he is very good finisher if he is kept in or around the penalty box instead of playing out wide.

- Chukwuemeka, Casadei, Kellyman, Deivid Washington, Angelo Gabriel, Tyrique George, Acheompong all still with us but very unlikely to get much game time - all of them could have done with a loan move. Hopefully we can still find clubs for them in the leagues that are still open for business but obviously a Championship loan would have been the ideal for most of them. No idea where Chuk goes.

- What was the point of KDH?

If we count players who have started less than 10 games last season and all the new signings this season we will have:

Jorgensen

Veiga - Fofana - Tosin - James?(If he manages to start 10 games this season...)

Dewsbury Hall - Lavia

Neto - Felix - Sancho - Nkunku - Guiu

And we have lost:

Petrovic

Silva - Chalobah - Chilwell?

Gallagher

Sterling - Broja

As a whole I think we have upgraded the squad massively. There are a lot of injury prone players we have to protect. Our GK situation is a bit mental in having 8 players and not one WC option. Otherwise I like the squad and believe we have more than enough for top 4. Up the Chels!

Only took a B to get here but finally we do not know who our GK, goalscorer, leading CB, defensive midfielders are. First 100m was a half baked strategy. 200m was all hype. 300m was just some trolling. 400m was confusion setting in. 500m was denial. 600m was anger. 700m was bargaining. 800m was depression. 900m was acceptance. 1B back to the start of the cycle, half baked strategy, foundations, again. Lots to build on. Lots to do. Somehow. Still.

So, why Sancho is not announced yet? It’s been 12 hours since window closed.

Very weird. Is this the only deal in the league that hasn’t been announced yet?

I think so. Reliable sources such as BBC claim since last night everything is 100% signed and done, they don’t mention what’s the reason of delayed announcement.

This is even more baffling, given we've already been in this exact situation for months if not seasons already - ok up front, but with shaky Kepa and tragic defense, mutually dragging each other down and suddenly looking like whole different club when this issue was fixed. One would think the board would draw conclusions from very glaring issues in recent past.

Remember. Not one decision maker at this club has even for a week in their lives, lead a team at the top level. They literally don’t know what’s required. 20yrs watching the best / 5-10 yrs working for the runner ups (not even). They don’t understand balance or edge. Fans have a better education.
