we need one more midfielder at least

Assuming we keep Santos in the squad, we'd have Enzo, Caicedo, Santos and then we have Hall, Colwill or R. James as options too, for probably a 2 man midfield. Seems alright for a season with no Europe tbh. If Santos is going on loan and the view is he's not ready, then we should buy K. Thuram or similar.

we are in a good position.

Even next season he will still have two years left on his contract.

We can't afford to lose a centre back because then we'd have to buy another one.

Yeah would also be a good option imo again depending on whether Santos is ready. He has good experience, good quality, not a world class player like Enzo or Caicedo might be but for sure a rock we could rely on. I don't think the club is planning to get anyone other than Caicedo though, until Santos has had his shot in preseason.

Colwill has 3 years left on contract. We keep him, doesnt matter what he or other clubs want. Not even debatable.

Hopefully the club has learned from the way Levy was able to lock in Harry Kane and others. We are extremely in control of this situation.

Even if Liverpool offered something silly like the €100m City are about to spend on Gvardiol we should say no chance. He’s that same level as a CB prospect. He can literally become the best in Europe if he fulfills his potential and there’s a reason why all of our rivals are clamoring for him.

The fact that Klopp wants him to be the long term replacement for one of the best CB’s of his generation in VVD tells you all you need to know.

Selling him (and even worse, selling him to a hated PL rival) would be the most unforgivable bit of business this club has ever done. Worse than selling Salah, worse than selling De Bruyne.

All this noise and bullshit will hopefully be killed the instant he reports back to Cobham and starts working with Poch.

If someone offers 100m for Colwill we should immediately sell, as that would be totally bonkers and would never happen... he is a promising player but he wasn't even a guaranteed starter at Brighton mate.

BREAKING: #LFC are set to rival #BHAFC in the battle to sign #CFC defender Levi Colwill.

Chelsea want to keep Colwill, but the England under-21 centre-back is stalling on signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Tier 4. TalkSport is saying this

Him not being an every match starter at Brighton isn’t relevant. What matters is his future potential which again like Gvardiol is immense.

And tbh, comparedGvardiol, Colwill has the better physical tools due to his height and size. I remember reading some stats that showed Gvardiol being one of the worst CB’s in Europe when it came to winning his aerial duels.

Colwill has contract till 2025, right?

Plus option for another year if he plays a certain amount of PL games, thought to be around 15 matches. So essentially his deal is till 2026 if he's being integrated as a permanent first team member.

That alone must reassure Colwill that he will have playing time this season because it also makes sense for the club from a financial and contract point of view to integrate him. I dont know of what he is so afraid of. He played 17 games last season for Brighton, so playing 15 games for Chelsea would be big step up.
