Why on earth would we be after another pure right sided attacker when we have Madueke, Sterling (who I guess will be deployed there since we have Mudryk on the left) and now Angelo who looks extremely promising? Signing another young right winger makes ZERO sense.

Kudus or Cherki make perfect sense because they can play centrally which is what we need.

I guess the main reason is a financial one, bc he has a rather "cheap" release clause and his value probably will go up in the future means profit in future sales. For the team it doesnt make sense, hope Poch tells them. Kudus yes, Olise no.

Yeah, this feels like it would be a pure club signing rather than one pushed by the manager. A young talent whose value can explode in the future.

Him drawing interest from City I can see. He’d be perfect to replace Mahrez.

Also, Palace losing their two best players in Zaha & Olise would be devastating. Can’t see it.

Buying a player who had a catastrophic injury is also silly. Especially if it’s a hamstring injury as a wide attacker who is all about pace and explosive movement.

Olise is interesting, like a middle ground between Cherki and Kudus, has the defensive side covered well (like Kudus) and puts out serious assist numbers (like Cherki) but suffers from the same lack of goal scoring as Cherki. Would take Kudus if it is between the two of them, but definitely either over Cherki. He’s also a set piece specialist which we are currently lacking.

If we get both surely someone is going out on loan (Angelo?) and someone is up for a last minute sale, maybe Sterling if Poch is contemplating a Mudryk/Maatsen LW?

Chelsea head of recruitment Joe Shields most famous projects : • Jadon Sancho • Michael Olise • Romeo Lavia via @TheAthleticUK

Shields moved for Armel Bella-Kotchap from Bochum and he made his Germany debut - this is regarded as a mark of his suitability for the role by Chelsea.

Roy Hodgson expects injured Michael Olise to miss the start of the new season.

The young star suffered a tear to his hamstring while playing for France at last month’s Under-21s Euros, and has since undergone surgery.

It’s a blow for both player and club, with Olise’s best football last season coming once Hodgson returned caretaker manager for Crystal Palace’s final ten games of the season.

“We’ve known since the injury that it’s going to take a while for him to get fit again”, Hodgson revealed. “It was a serious injury which required an operation. He’s well into his rehabilitation but it’s going to take a bit longer for him to recover.

“At the moment we’re just hoping that the rehabilitation will go well and that we get him back as quickly as possible. But we certainly we won’t be seeing him for a period of time.”

Just watched Olise’s season highlights. Idk, I just wasn’t that impressed. Seems like a solid player but nothing that screams “special” to my eyes. Got a wand of a left foot on corners and set pieces but his general play looks like it would be totally redundant for our team since it’s so similar to Madueke’s. But whereas Madueke’s first instinct seems to be to cut inside and shoot, Olise’s is to cross it Ziyech style.

Even aside from his long term injury I don’t get it.

Don't want him. Don't get me wrong, he is absolutely quality but as an individual and team player he leaves a lot to be desired. If we're going with a super young side, we cannot afford to have such a prima Donna with such social catche.

Additionally, not going to happen. He is set at PSG this season. £100m for riding the bench then probably get another £100m signing on fee at Real next Summer. No need to even go to Saudi.

PSG bosses made him a prima donna by offering him so much power and those absurd wages not to go to RM. Cant blame Mbappe.
