I read he's a Chelsea fan, idolised Drogba, Lampard and is friends with Tammy, Callum etc. That may be why?

Plus London lad knows he could be Chelsea star player and the marketability of being in the Premier League and London.

For any regular Ajax viewers how good is Onana?

In other words, please reassure me his moment of madness against Spurs was a fluke exception and not a regular part of his game.

But that doesn't translate to "I want to join only Chelsea", does it? He hasn't come out and said that. It is a persuasion factor if we do go for him but there's no guarantee he will choose us if other big clubs are in for him as well.

Several sources saying the Onana deal is done at £34M.

I don't think anything is done or even decided yet. The media are just dramatizing everything because Lampard dropped Kepa and it's only one game so far.

Sports Illustrated going with the story now. They usually don't get involved in the rumors.

But they basically just quoted the French source...

If the rumor has any truth to it, we would be seeing the likes of Matt Law reporting it.

I don't believe rumours that Kepa is dropped for the rest of the season and will be sold in the summer.

In fact, I don't remember any player being dropped for less? He was great last season. Was man of the match on January 1st against Brighton. If our attackers did their job against Newcastle we wouldn't even talk about Kepa. Of course he should save it. Free kick against Ajax as well. Imo he wasn't at fault for goals against Arsenal and outrage on here was crazy after the game. We have much bigger problems than Kepa. FBs, CBs, lack of creativity, finishing...

Focus is on offensive players naturally but every great team is based on good defence.

It's crazy if we go into next season with same 4 CBs. Zouma and Christensen are not good enough. Frank saying he's happy with them is a concern for me.

Two names I would like to suggest:

Nunez Unai from Bilbao (City bound)

Luiz Felipe from Lazio.

While they need replaced for sure, I think with a better attack and LB they won't be exposed as much. It's pretty clearly Lampard can't change the whole team in one summer, so I assume we will let the central defense the same and work on other areas to improve.

If there is a bidding war like many expect for Sancho he will easily go for closer to the 150m IMO.

Man Utd, Real, Barca, City, Liverpool and us have all been linked. Dortmund will be rubbing their hands together at the prospect of say 100m minimum for the starting price rising to god knows what. I honestly do think he will go for closer to 150m than 100m because of the interest in him.

I have settled on around £130m as being what he will go for. But I maybe be well off.

I could see him go for more depending on what happens with Mbappe, Neymar, Mane, Salah, and Sterling, who are the big guns out there who would cost more,

Neymar, Mane and Salah all turn 30 in the season after the next one (or 2 weeks or so after, in Salah's case), so they will soon be off the truly monster cost list, say by the summer 2022 window at the latest. I therefore expect them to be in huge play in summer 2020 and surely, if not moved on then, in the summer 2021 window. I simply cannot see any team paying over £100m or more for a player not named Messi or CR7 who is in their 30's.

Messi can leave on a free btw, in 4 or 5 months, due to a clause in his contract, not that I except him to.

Thank you, that encourages me.

The other thing which encourages me is that, even taking the injury into account, there were times when Sancho was above Pulli in the BVB pecking order and I like Pulli more than I was expecting to. On the other hand, many of Sancho's YouTubes haven't impressed me. I like some of his passing in and around the box, a big need of ours in my opinion, but his dribbling sometimes looks loose, and there are times when I feel he's trying too hard with some of the flashy tricks he tries.
