Yes top strikers scare defences to death only in a functional system that bring out the best in them. So many of our attackers have become a mediocre of themselves in our team. Example Sterling used to be above average and a force to reckon with while at Liverpool and later at Man City and those teams are right here in the premier league. Over here he looks quite average. Same can be said of some other attacking players in our squad who were superstars at their former clubs and am sure will still be superstars in their next club after us. Why do goals dry up for most top high scoring players which we buy?

I do think It is because we hardly think of attacking the opponent. Or does the coach tell them to play that way?

Can't he tell his players to attack in games? So many things I do not understand.

Watching our games looks quite funny these days. These guys passes the ball in their half as if points are given for ball possession.

Maybe we should buy absolute shite players, might come good rather than good players turning bad 🤣

Its gonna be another chaotic window. I wonder whether Boehly and co will simply lose interest in this project if the next batch of signings also underwhelm.

Hopefully with proper recruitment personnel now on board and a Director of Football in place, we can make good transfer decisions and stop overpaying for average players like Cucurella.

You don't become a billionaire from getting board of projects when they don't work at first.

Lots of people still talk about buying player A or B when the ones we have not lived up to expectations. I refuse to believe our problem solely lies in stockpiling talented players. I think it is poor and clueless coaching. Never seen Chelsea fc poor as this in so many years. Even if we bought prime Messi into this team, we would still struggle. Poor game strategy, poor attacking play. In the last 10 matches or more we have struggled to even reach 50:50 ball possession.

Too soon for them getting bored.

My worry is about our prospects if we fail to get top 4 this season

If this past window was any indication, there's a lot of doubt regarding the new Chelsea, and where our ambitions lie.,

Finishing outside the top 4 spots would take away some of the assurances we had, and make us less of an appealing option when there's at least 4 other options to choose from in England.

Also, I doubt Potter has the pull that Conte or Mourinho had in terms of getting players to come over.

It could basically lead to a slippery slope - the same hellhole Arsenal and United have been in for the past 5 years.

And no, don't tell me about how well Arsenal are doing this year. They hit the jackpot with the transfer window and hit the purple patch at the right time. The ends don't always justify the means.

I think the most recent transfer window should be looked at as pure panic and chaos.  No Director in charge, Manager at odds with his new ownership group and we ended up making our problems worse (50+ million on Cucurella, 60+ million on young Fofana coming off a nasty injury, 30+ million on Sterling who seems to have forgotten how to dribble and 30+ million on Koulibaly who will likely get worse with age).

It's quite obvious that our lack of a midfield and rubbish attack will cost us a top 4 place this season.  We really were spoiled for that period of time where we had Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho fit and firing in midfield.  Now you look at the lineup of Jorginho - RLC or Kovacic - RLC and you know the game's gone.

Massive transfer window coming up in the summer, wonder if Boehly & co have the balls to sell off half the squad?

Cannot stress enough how important it is to buy the right midfielder for our system, hopefully the board will be in place to help us find the right one.

Nothing against RLC but when a player his level has played so many times and minutes for a team like Chelsea, something is not right.

They did have a decent window in 2021 too - signed White, Ramsdale, Odegaard

But we got top 4 and some targets still turned us down and hasn't worked out well for them being in the Champions league either...seeing as now they're not!

Obviously that is a pull factor but also how the club sell it all and approach it. We could still potentially make decent signings if we finish outside but its how the deals are done.

It's a window that they're reaping the rewards from more now compared to last season.

That's why I still retain hopes in particular with Cucurella and Fofana that they will develop into good signings for the club irrespective of the price paid for them, and hopefully this season is a learning curve for players like Broja and Gallagher to kick on too. Neither in my opinion has really fully grasped the opportunities they've been afforded this season, but both are still young and developing and they're having to come in and perform in a struggling side.

Potter has to really get a grip of what he wants to do with this squad and who he wants to take with him moving forward. Everyone else needs moving on and just cut adrift. It sounds cold but some cut throat decisions need to be made with this squad and I do worry a little whether Potter is ready to do that. So far it feels like he's being too nice trying to keep everyone involved and included and what we're ending up with is a heavily rotated side game after game with lifeless, inconsistent performances from a group that look like they've never played a game in their lives together.
