He knows what Carreras is like from Benfica, and with what Alvaro Arbeloa has told him.

I wouldn’t say no but he’s not someone at this moment in time I’d be bothered about not going for or missing out on. If we somehow signed him, fine, I’d be excited. If not, oh well.

I feel like some of you take this way too far. Are the absolute TOP, already established players going to want to join Chelsea right now? Likely not. But we are still a BIG draw to almost any player who’s at a club smaller than us. 

Most players aren’t really going to be looking backwards anyways. They’ll be thinking about their situations going forward. They’ll be thinking about whether Chelsea could be on an upward trajectory going forward. And if they see Xabi Alonso here and see us making some ambitious signings I think we can still be highly attractive.

I’m talking about established players or high-market-value players. If Abra were with us, we could’ve easily signed Rodgers. Now it’s impossible

The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea may reportedly have been handed a transfer boost regarding West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

The talented young Portugal international has just enjoyed an impressive season in the Premier League, despite West Ham ultimately failing to stay up as they suffered relegation to the Championship on the final day.

Fernandes has been on Arsenal’s radar, but BBC Sport now claim that the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield could change their transfer plans.

We’ve recently been made aware of Man United stepping up their interest in Fernandes, while Chelsea are also among his numerous suitors this summer.

Where next for Mateus Fernandes?

West Ham will no doubt be disappointed to lose a talent like Fernandes after just one season, but it’s surely going to be impossible to persuade him to stay and play his football in the Championship.

The 21-year-old looks like he has a big future in the game, and he could already be ideal to strengthen Arsenal’s midfield.

Martin Zubimendi started brightly for the Gunners this season but faded as the campaign went on, while Lewis-Skelly stepped up well in the final few matches, but remains relatively inexperienced.

Given how much football Declan Rice has played, it makes sense for Mikel Arteta to bring in more depth in that department, so Fernandes could be the perfect option.

Still, the former Southampton man could perhaps be given more of a key role at United or Chelsea.

It was a really disappointing campaign at Stamford Bridge in particular, with the Blues finishing trophyless and in 10th place in the Premier League table.

Fernandes could be ideal to give Chelsea something different in the middle of the park, especially if a big name like Enzo Fernandez decides not to stick around now that the team have dropped out of Europe.

United, meanwhile, will be bidding farewell to Casemiro at the end of his contract, while Manuel Ugarte has been poor so could perhaps leave, with Fernandes ideal to come in as a replacement to build around for the long-term.

Plenty of incomings already to decide on - Penders, Barco, Quenda, Emegha are likely replacing a lot of the backup deadwood in the squad. And there is documented interest in at least a few good players - Rogers, van Hecke, Lewis Hall 

Problem is weve seen this for the last few years..its only june..its only July. Oh now its August. Ah now its closed...

So shall see..either be a decent window or complete diaster but considering the clear signs are there we need to sign to compete or least make 4th! If that then..gotta make the most of it this time

I doubt that Camavinga or Tchouameni without UCL think about switch Real for Chelsea.

Based on that methodology, our understanding of the attacking midfield market can be found below.

Tier One, Tier Two and Tier Three can be divided into elite clubs, those from the level just below and the wealthy middle-class, respectively. But it is worth remembering that if the other options move or are unavailable, elite sides could quite easily fit a Tier Three player into their teams.

Inclusion here does not mean a player wants to move or that they are necessarily going to be available this summer. However, it is who our experts, which includes sporting and technical directors, coaches, scouts, intermediaries, analysts and, in a few instances, people with important local knowledge, would present in a recruitment meeting going into the window.

To lose Enzo and get back a squad player doesn't help.
