As I mentioned - Liverpool overspent on a bunch of average ish players and have an ageing team. They won't be this powerhouse. Found it funny people thought they would steam roll the league again.

They'll be in a tough spot in 3-4 years.

Our model of picking away but getting young pieces in that fit is far more sutainable long term IMO.

Only sustainable if we add to the core group and round out the squad with quality options in GK CB and up front.

Chelsea are seen as the frontrunners to sign 23-year-old England midfielder Morgan Rogers from Premier League rivals Aston Villa. (Caught Offsid

Obviously another ex Man City player…. Good potential but enough of the Joe Shields recommendations.

Would steer clear of any u23 attackers/midfielders/defender in the next window.

Go get a top GK, CB & attacker who is 24-28 and isn’t going to need 2 seasons to come good for fuck sake. Not hard. Or we will be this up and down team again and again. Bit of proven quality would go a long way…

It is crazy to think that our "oldest" players are Tosin, Cucurella and Sanchez and in all honesty, only one of them should be a guaranteed starter 😆

Imagine if we had the experience of Kovacic/Jorginho/Kante/Cesc in the midfield to help these young guys  or even the likes of Cahill/Luiz/Rudiger at the back

Tbf we wouldn’t be so open in midfield if Enzo Fernandez would actually run back and tackle also. World Cup Winning midfielder yet an absolute passenger when teams take the ball of us.

But yes experience would help everyone for sure.   But when Kante and Jorginho were here folk were desperate to get rid of them, apparently Kante wasn’t ever going to be fit enough to play to justify a wage & Jorginho wasn’t good enough (yet went to a title competitor and ended up playing as a #6 instead of £100m Declan Rice, who was initially signed and used by Arteta as a 6).

If we go into January/next summer and don’t prioritise some experience in key positions, will be same again and again. And the usuals will keep buying what these charlatans are selling because they’ll buy 3 or 4 up and coming attackers instead of hitting the nail on the head and solving problems that have been ongoing for 3 plus seasons now.

I mean if people are thinking these owners and sporting directors have real ambition to win the biggest titles, after the past 4 windows, they are delusional. It has been noted that we have needed a top GK, a top CB, a top CF/attacker for fuck knows how long. Even the manager said about a CB in the summer… the manager. Yet what did they do, £100m on 2 wide players…. Donnarumma & Guehi would of cost less than that.

Lyon's Malick Fofana (a main target for LW for us) has perhaps been knocked out for the season by one of BlueCo Strasbourg's CB's, Ismaël Doukouré, via a straight red horror tackle just now

and, for the 3rd consecutive time that I have watched a full Strasbourg game, they have blown a lead and lost in injury time

ffs

they could have went clear 2nd in the table

Dayot Upamecano turns 28yo in exactly 1 year and is demanding a minimum of around £270K PW for 5 years (around £70m in toto) plus a huge signing fee

that is a MASSIVE NO for me

I do not rate him all that much, let alone at what might be £90-100m in just salary and signing bonus

plus the only Big 5 league he has played in will be the pinball Bundesliga (for 9 and a half years come next summer)

danger danger

How do you guys have any enthusiasm towards this topic is beyond me.

What’s the point in even thinking this club will do the right thing in any transfer market going forward?

Zero chance.

Yep you’d think after the past few windows they would have seen the same glaring issues that have plagued us for years and tried to rectify them with quality additions. They haven’t. Instead they’re doubling down.

After almost 2bn spend still Palmer FC without him no creativity ,no leadership ,no world class GK , world class CB or world class ST same shit season after season . No ideas how to play vs low block  in 3th season in  a row . 50 millions for Kittens  but can't go and get Maignan or  to pay 70 millions for Bastoni or on that calibur . Marc Guiu is your main striker what a comedy .

Think you are being a bit harsh. Sure, loss against Sunderland hurted, but we won 4 in a row before and could have won this one aswell, it just wasn't our game.

It's almost November and we are on good way to reach our goals, despite Palmer, Delap, our main CB-s(Colvill, Fofana, Badiashile) and Lavia were hardly available so far.

I feel this Sanchez-Maignan topic is overdiscussed aswell. Bobby isn't elite but he has been fine this season, it's not like we are constantly swallowing goals because of him. Maigan isn't Jesus Christ either, he doesn't magically make Milan champion team.

Many people were whining about Liverpool having Mamardashvili as backup GK.. Well, they just lost 5 games out of their last 6 with him. While we won 5 out of last 6 with Bobby/Jorgensen.

GK is important, but after one loss bring up this topic again is just creating narrative.
