Well knowing the kind of players they target I won't be surprised if he gets an injury in the next couple of weeks that rules him out for most of next season. Not that it will stop them from buying him of course...

I really just thought/hoped that with UCL achieved and with the positive vibes around the club after 3 years of misery, the owners would go out and go BIG for a marquee signing like Liverpool have done with Wirtz and then the rest of the buys would be smart, opportunistic ones like Delap. And that we’d do so early in the summer so that player could get settled in and hit the ground running.

There’s still a lot of the transfer window left but I feels like there’s zero buzz about us going for any truly top class, ready made player. We’re still going to be shopping for the same targets we would’ve done had we finished 7th or something.

The club has done really well with attacking talent for the most part and people are in shambles about our targets, despite from a stats perspective rating very well. 

Gittens statistically is better than Nico Williams, yet people are acting as if there is a major gap between the two.

Thing is, we’ve hoarded a hundred “talent’s” already. This should be the summer where we supplement those young and developing players with experienced quality to help us push on and become a serial contender for the league and UCL again. Instead, it appears we’re just going to obsessively hoard more young players who may be years away from reaching their potential. If they ever even do.

Not sure if you have being living under a rock but UCL was never going to change the model, if anything it will tell these guys they are on the right path.

talent , potential it's not enough when you elite club and you want titlies you can have  talent young players when you mix them with proven ,experience players like PSG do , or Real  Madrid last years but only with potential you can do it in Brighton if they are 4 or 10 in the table nobody cares

Who are you referring to exactly?

Bar Cole Palmer, who have these guys brought in that is truly Chelsea level? I’m struggling to think of one player…. 
 

When i say Chelsea level, I’m talking about the level Roman built us up to.. not this bang average mentality being installed by the new owners who have fans like yourself willing subscribing to.

It doesn’t need to change 180 degrees. They can still pursue the best young talent out there. But that can’t be the ONLY kind of player we buy or we’re never going to win anything. Because our rivals are busy buying players who are already top quality rather than what could become great 3+ years from now.

I don’t disagree, but they are not going to do it, and it’s the same every transfer window, the expectation to reality is crazy

Tbh, the champions league win under TT kinda masks the fact we was in decline well before these owners took over

Sadly that’s true. We have not won any domestic title since 2018 (lost I think 7 domestic finals in a row). But we also did not have any elite coach in that time apart from Tuchel. I believe an experienced manager would be able to get a bit more out of this squad which clearly is talented but lacks guidance even now but that is apparently not on the cards either.

The Nkunku signing and the maignan pursuit have shown that the owners are willing to at least look at players over 25 if they think it is still good value. But clearly their bias for youth is void of any footballing knowledge behind it and purely an economic consideration. All we can do is hope that by chance they sign some 24 yo who indeed is exceptionally mature for his age and able to provide leadership. 

what I find just as odd is that we have a manager who prefers slow possession based football, whereas almost all our past and prospective attacking signings  are athletic speed demons who are best suited to a counter attacking style which we witnessed to have great effect during the first few months of last season.

Chelsea have made a 35m euros (£30m) bid for former Real Madrid defender Mario Gila, according to reports in Italy.

Gila, 24, spent three years in Real Madrid’s reserve team before making his first-team debut for Los Blancos during the 2021-22 campaign.

The former Spain U21 star only made one more appearance for Real Madrid, however, before being sold to Lazio in the summer of 2022.

Lazio spent £5m to sign Gila from Real Madrid and the centre-back has been a mainstay in the team over the past two seasons.

Gila made over 40 appearances last season as Lazio finished seventh in Serie A and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri, who previously managed Chelsea, does not want to lose the Spaniard this summer but a number of clubs are interested in a deal.

Italian outlet Il Messaggero say Chelsea, Tottenham, Bournemouth and PSG have all expressed interest in signing Gila.

They also claim that Chelsea have already made an offer worth £30m, which was quickly rejected by Lazio.

Lazio are also believed to have rejected a £35m bid from Bournemouth but will be prepared to sell if they receive an offer in the region of £50m.

Gila is yet to represent Spain but was included in the senior squad for their Nations League quarter-final against Netherlands earlier in the year.

SPTC sources understand Bayern have made an enquiry to Chelsea regarding right back Malo Gusto for a potential move to the Bundesliga this summer. We have not heard what Chelsea’s official stance on Gusto is yet, but there is a belief from sources that they are likely to at least listen to the approach that is coming in and it wouldn’t be a phone down situation immediately.

Chelsea have Gusto as Reece James’ main backup right now but there is a lot of belief in academy graduate Josh Acheampong, and this is why the club could be willing to sell Gusto and put their faith in the 19-year-old rising star. Acheampong would then step in as James’ main backup at right back and Gusto would be allowed to move on. I do believe it would have to be a pretty decent offer though for Chelsea to allow Gusto to move, but certainly not far-fetched at all.

If Gusto is not sold, then we are also hearing that there are now a few Premier League clubs enquiring about taking Acheampong on loan this season, something that is very likely to happen in this scenario. We’ve also heard that it’s the same situation for Tyrique George, who when Chelsea sign more wingers/attackers, he is most likely going to go out on loan and has serious interest coming in.
