Massively overpaying for a winger Dortmund don’t even want but refusing to pay for a top keeper.

Starting the season with Sanchez as our #1 again just confirms that we have no ambition whatsoever from the top of the club to challenge for a title or the UCL. Just happy to be there for a few fun European nights and another fight until the last day for 4th.

well thats the point

Why?

It should be a fair competition for all. Whether FIFA likes it or not, lesser known clubs (Al Ahly, for example, the most successful club in world football) will reach the KO stages. What's the point of teams getting to that stage only to go out and spend £100m+ to increase their chances?

I can live with not getting Maignan if it was 100% certain Petrovic is being prioritised as our number 1 for next season but you just know these fucking idiots in charge are tempted to sell him and they actually trust Sanchez. The fact they have publicly said they trust Sanchez is terrifying… anyone backing Sanchez to remain as our number 1 goalkeeper is clinically insane.

I know his metrics were good in France but I still find it hard to believe he's done a total 180 from the disaster he was when he was here last time.

But I guess his performances have warranted another shot short of the Maignan deal returning to the table (if we had a bit more experienced a defense I'd say fuck it and give Penders a go but alas).

Sucks we didn’t get Mike, but in the other hand I like the fact we didn’t let them dictate to us what we will pay, we need a new keeper but if this is purely down to ac Milan trying to fleece us out of every penny because of prem tax then they can fuck off

as I said, we need to pray to get at least some seasons with top4 to not become to irrelevant and hope when board sell the club to get another type of owners

this competetition was created for the biggest clubs, not for some no-one-cares about teams like al ahly or some random south african or korean team.

they want all the best teams in the quarter finals and onwards.

“The club has faith in the keeper we have” is the most obnoxious gaslighting you’ll ever see. They’re actually trying to make the fanbase be,ieve that utter bullshit despite the evidence before our own eyes.

It’s exactly like the striker chase last summer where everyone and their mother knew we desperately needed a top #9, we chased Osimhen all the way, and then cheated out and refused to pay what was needed. Then the club briefed everyone just like with this Maignan deal that “we trust Nico Jackson.” And then we saw how that went.

That's why Inter Miami were invited, yeah? Huge history and known worldwide 😃

They might be no names to someone based in Europe with limited knowledge about stuff across the globe. River Plate & Boca are bigger names than almost all the European sides participating.

The snobbery around anything non-European is something else. Expanded WC should be a joy in 12 months time.

Not everything you read on the sewerage called internet is intended just and exluaively for us - fans, or anyone else in particular.

First, people forget how many people are working on those deals, who says that everything we read from some source is 100% true, that noone changed some part of the story, misunderstood something, didn’t mention something ?

In the end, why people can’t accept that football is in the end also a bussiness like every other one, especially in the modern days, and that those quotes like “We have trust in Sanchez” can also be pragmatic manipulation for other clubs, agents, journalists and other people working in the area. How many times Maresca repeated that sentence during the season, and then, in the end, we allegedly tried to sign another keeper ? Does that mean that he was trying to manipulate fans or clubs, because in the end shows he was also not happy with the keeper, but was smart enough to hide it and keep moving forward until transfer market is open…and don’t get me wrong, I’m not the biggest fan of Maresca and his style of football at all.

People need to chill, those people are professionals and ofcourse they will make mistakes some times, who doesn’t at his/her job here, but in the end we are going forward, we secured CL football, we won the trophy and are playing for another one this summer so I think here should be less drama about the Italian side who is trying to milk money from us for the decent goalkeeper in his 30’s and in last year of the contract.

I’m not familiar with statistic and data, but maybe Vesper or someone can actually tell us who is the most expensive player in his 30’s that some club payed more than 15mil€ in his last year of contract - than we can compare him to Maignan…
