Chelsea Transfers

During the talks between Bayern and Pini Zahavi over Leroy Sané, the name of Christopher Nkunku, also represented by Zahavi, was mentioned. Max Eberl had spoken to Nkunku in January and presented him with a concrete plan. The Frenchman will leave Chelsea this summer and is expected to cost less than his €35m market value [@altobelli13, @cfbayern]

Does anyone know anywhere else to talk about transfers where people don’t cry so much when we don’t land everyone we are apparently in for?

It’s hard to sift through and act like the world is over when we’ve been on a clear upwards trajectory the last 3 years.

It baffles me more. The meltdown here is devastating. Most also think anyone out there is always an automatic upgrade on our existing squad players.

Reading that Cherki is some wizard we missed out on and how other clubs do better business.

People here were saying hell no when they wanted 18 mil last season lol...

If we sure up LW, add a CB and get a better keeper - we have a great team that will continue to grow. We have the best midfield depth in the world IMO.

If we add Rogers or Gittens, and a highly rated CB - this would be one of our best windows in years. And I say that after we've had the likes of Palmer and Caicedo come in windows.

What I mean is the manager wants them so you’d think the club would push a bit beyond what they initially intended to to reward Maresca for achieving his goals this last season. If he wanted Maignan and the only intended to go to £12.5m, would it have really been a big deal to go to £20m?

It just seems like insane logic having seen what they’ve spent on complete rando’s for years now. For literal kids aged 17 or 18 they’re willing to pay whatever is necessary even if that’s £40m+ yet for one the premier keepers who is also a leader in the squad which we badly need, we blow up the deal that would’ve been cheaper than what we paid for Sanchez.

On this one occasion, I actually get where the club is coming from. Milan are just trying to take advantage of the CWC deadline. Let them have an unhappy player and stop doing dealings with them. It's very straightforward.

Petrovic being excluded is the odd decision (they view this as a 24/25 tournament regarding loan players yet add Santos to the squad). Idiotic choices like this are what annoy me most.

Situation with Kendry Paez has changed. Player was expecting to go to the Club World Cup last week and then have his future decided. #CFC have determined he is not part of their squad, with a Strasbourg loan anticipated. Paez understood to be disappointed as summer plans altered.

Who on earth thought it was smart to tell him he'd be part of the squad to begin with? Shit like this will have players regretting making the switch before even playing the game.

I’m beyond furious with how this club is being ran… the Petrovic news has tipped me over the edge. Then to rub it in, there are genuinely fans backing the unforgivable decisions being made at this club.

My blood is boiling. Surely I can’t be the only one.

Might be alone but I am kind of happy how the club ran the Maignan and Gitten deals. Their clubs wanted to rip us off badly, think we did the right thing pulling off. They are good players but none of them are must haves, at least not before middle of June. They are both reported to be disappointed and requested to leave, our negotiation position might be better in a few weeks.

The same people who probably have told the Brazilian lad he will play as a number 10 here when we have Cole Palmer also or that several of the other 500 youngsters we’ve bought will play in the squad as soon as possible. BlueCo have basically recreated the Roman model of stockpiling youth but now we cannot loan as many and have to do dodgy deals between ourselves and Strasborg which will be heavily scrutinised 😂

Petrovic is another poor run of the mill mid table GK though?

Not sure what he would really bring to the table that we don’t already have, just more inconsistent performances and shakiness playing out. Showed the same under Poch.

Unfortunately due to the GK’s we have, Sanchez is probably seen at the club as the best out of them all. Petrovic will be sold - as he should. But it is exactly the same for either or both of Jorgensen and Sanchez.

The reluctance to close that deal with AC Milan over the sake of say 5 mil is ridiculously stupid though. When was the last time a top leading nation GK would’ve moved for a fee like that? Its relevantly low cost.

Gittens - maybe we would be ripped off badly. Who knows. Don’t think we need another youngster at all in those attacking positions anyway but different matter.

Not sure where anyone gets the opinion Milan were ripping us off by asking for what is reported to be around £15-20m for France’s number 1 GK, who is maybe 29 or 30.

We have absolutely made an arse of that deal and cannot believe folk are even denying it. Penny pinching at the highest order offering between £8 to 12.5m for him. Talking peanuts in modern day transfers for fuck sake.

But because of the players age, contract and likelihood theres no resale value we have tried to cheap them out. Thats the only way we should be looking at it. People would say £20m its a good deal. So the logic is moronic. If he was 21 and had a 7 year contract we’d probably offer them £125m.

Signing dozens of young players whilst we had also been signing loads of first team players that blocked their pathway was always going to bite us in the ass at some point and piss some of them off. That time is apparently now. Paez, Petrovic, who knows who else probably all were under the impression that they’d get a look in this summer to prove themselves worthy of staying.

Wasn’t he the top performing GL of Ligue 1??

He looks really good to me. Way better than Sanchez.

i just can’t believe a club of our size genuinely believes Sanchez is the answer.
