Pizy 18,942
Also, if Olise does choose United over us are we still after another winger? Or was it just that we really, really want Olise specifically? If the club are willing to pay £60m+ for Olise then there are surely other fantastic wide attackers we could get as alternatives with that money. We're gonna get that bang average Championship youngster Summerville or what is his name called. Time to pack it up honestly, we're done as a top club. Imagine if our entire business this summer window is appointing a manager from the Championship, signing a winger from the Championship, signing Aston Villa’s backup striker, and signing a CB (who I do really like) on a free. Fucking YIKES! lmao All on top of selling fan favorite Chelsea youth products Chalobah & Gallagher. This ownership better pray to God that all those moves turn out to be strokes of genius because if we have another poor season the toxicity will be insane. If he is the only striker we sign then the club deserve every bit of shit the fans direct their way. If he is one of 2 strikers we buy and the other one is the primary starter then okay. If he is being thought of as someone who will compete with Jackson and those two are the only ones on the books then we’re fucked. We wouldn’t be signing a young CF if the objective is to go out and recruit a more established striker afterwards. Why would we? I mean we already have Jackson and Duran would be the second young CF in our squad. They have to play to develop so it wouldn’t make sense. Clearlake and the co-sporting directors apparently want to become more efficient in the market and sign players below a certain age so you can forget the likes of Toney, Oshimen etc who are going to cost big fees. Sesko is going to resign at Leipzig too. Maybe our hands are forced a bit with Broja potentially going to Everton but the Duran deal is a bad one, everyone can see that. I’m assuming more efficient in the market means that Tosin and Duran (potentially) will be brought in to replace Silva and Broja (potentially). Just a risk at that price. 25 to 30 seems fair. Hopefully we get something in the range for Broja so almost a straight swap.

We already have a talented CF who is young. In fact we already have numerous talented young players. This criteria for recruiting for the squad set by these sporting directors is absolutely ridiculous and will never bear real success. Clubs recruit these sort of players to develop and sell on for profit, usually to bigger clubs. You don’t build a 25 man squad which is between 70-75% of these kind of players. At this point we need some actual proven quality and not talented could be quality. Apparently Boehly wants to copy Real Madrid (the newest laugh at Todd’s expense) by signing all these talented players. Difference is Madrid only sign 2/3 of them every couple of years. We’ve signed about 10-15 of them. In 2.5 years. Strike, Blue Armour and bigbluewillie

whats happening 1,621
in the end this just means jackson will still be our first striker and we are bringing in a young talented player as a back-up who will have enough time to show that he can become our main striker. reasonable idea, only problem is 50m is a bit much. but i bet (hope) its with a lot of incentives and clauses. We have bought mudryk, fofana, Caicedo, Enzo for close to that figure. Why not spend 100m on a player that would actually improve us. All the money these braindead owners spent could have got us the best squad in the world not a ‘project’ which apparently is the shortened American English form of ‘we have no idea what we’re doing’. imagine you had 200k to buy two or more nice reliable, comfortable cars, say one for fun, one to meet clients. You might buy a Porsche 911 and an merc s class or maybe you prefer a z4 and an a8 whatever. Clownlake would manage to splash 200k on a fiat multipla with a broken gear shift, a non street licensed hummer after 5 crashes and an illegaly imported post-sanctions Lada (you know cos they like its data) and tell you these pieces of trash have superb potential, will last longer and are cheaper to maintain than established brands. The mere persistent determination to get as little value as possible for the most obscene amounts of money spendable would make you think Clownlake just have a rather exotic financial domination fetish or are simply sworn to destroy this club. But what is more probable is that due to their success in yank sports they really have the hubris to think that they are some sports biz geniuses who are following a great contrarian strategy that will make them look like absolute masterminds in a few years. Spoiler alert: they are just stupid and will look like even greater fools then. But this club will suffer from the debt and all these average players they have dumped upon us for decades. robsblubot

Clockwork 1,794
Sometime the best move is not doing anything, why not bring back David Fofana as backup and save yourself 40m and go out get better striker than Duran next summer. What sets Duran apart from Fofana btw? Edited June 12, 2024 by Clockwork bluesman2610, Blue Armour and Alex 2
