Chelsea will turn down any loan moves for Romelu Lukaku this summer in a bid to sell the Belgium striker in a permanent deal.

They are looking to recoup some of £97.5m they paid Inter Milan for him in 2021, with their asking price believed to be about £37m as the club aims to get the 31-year-old's £325,000-a-week wages off their books. 325 000 a week fucking hell get rid now

He is on less now after last year but still whoever gave him that contract in the first place is a complete moron.

I'm sure I read this last summer also.

We have a good chance with Alvarez because:

1) he's only 100k/pw

2) can promise starting spot which in City is not gonna happen

3)  Pep have this philosophy when player says I want to leave he just says ok

4) Enzo best buddy

Fuck off.

This guy is amazing.. Made a name for himself playing well in Austria at a young age, but he has performed several horror shows for Leipzig and Bayern, not reliable at all. And somehow still made it to Deschamps' squad. Hope we miss out on him, stick with Adarabioyo.

All true, but I doubt City will have entered this window thinking about having to spend a bunch of money on another striker. It’ll probably be pretty tricky to go out and try to convince a very good striker to come to City knowing that they’ll be Haaland’s backup.

Not so difficult if it is someone like Alvarez himself; someone who can play behind the striker or on the wings. Haaland himself is a pure striker -- can't really play anywhere else.

That is nuts for a guy who scored 11 goals in the league...

there always be a context in this kind of a number

we are paying to city. he is only 24 years old and a very decent ratio goals/minute

9 assists looks pretty good as someone who often played as an AM https://www.transfermarkt.us/julian-alvarez/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/576024/wettbewerb/GB1/saison/2023

Didn't you complain about our players not being good finishers?

He has plenty of games there as CF and SS.

He has 16 more shots on goal than Jackson, and the same amount on target. Also 5 less open play goals since he took 2 penalties...

I just don't think he is the sure fire lock that people think he is, and he is 80-100 mil...

I thought my context was there, considering we are going to be paying near 100 mil (Osimhen money) for a guy who didn't crack 10 open play goals in 31 games this year.

His shot on goal, conversion rate and total goals is less than our younger striker who people say isn't great and want to get rid of.

Given our "money watching" - I think the fee for the risk is ridiculous. He should be a 50 mil player.

No, I'm not obsessed with finishing. I was very much against bringing Lukaku back, for ex.

I like good players regardless of position, and Alvarez is one.
