I imagine the Mount + Lewis Hall money is both counted in that time period, which is like £90m of pure profit? I think we'll be fine. That is a lot.

First of all, Nicolas Jackson is outscoring Lukaku in the league over the last couple of seasons, and is already 10x the footballer with the ball at his feet. And he's like 10 years younger. He makes better runs and plays more intelligently. This would be a horrendous downgrade, of the worst kind, and the exact kind of signing that old-Chelsea was famous for. All of this is irrelevant given that he is toxic and would break the dressing room, and make interviews speaking out against the club, the manager, his fellow players, and whoever else he feels like. All while pining for a return to Inter, or a move to Juventus, or perhaps he will announce that actually he has unfinished business at Manchester United.

I cannot imagine a worse signing for the summer transfer window than Romelu Lukaku, and by the same thought process the fact that he currently is on our books makes no difference: the priority remains to get rid of him, and he is only still HERE because no one wants him ffs.

I did not mean to replace Jackson with him, more like an addition as we only have one striker in the squad. Jackson was overused this season without having European duties. One striker must come, and if we cannot find a good candidate then we can try Lukaku, that's all I'm saying.

Yes, and for next fiscal year we can use Maatsen and Broja. That's 60-75m pure profit depending how much is Broja.

So don't understand why is Gallagher always used as must sell for profit.

Other than the obvious (a proven striker) I wonder if the club should prioritize another CB with a shit load of experience to replace Silva rather than going really young there?

But who. I know Hermoso is on a free but I haven't seen him for a while and not sure from what I recollect if he would fit into the side....

I think getting over £60-65m mark for both Maatsen and Broja will be unlikely.

Dortmund will probably try and low ball us for Maatsen. Also if the player is desperate to go back therr, the opportunity to get a deal in place for less than this release clause may be a real possibility.

Going from recent quotes from his agent, they already know that the club want to cash in on him. No doubt, other clubs will know this and try exploit this situation as opposed to paying the apparent £30-35m release clause put in the contract when they renewed it. Maybe not but it is a hunch I have. Contract expires in 2026 too so doesn’t leave us in a brilliant position compared to Broja, who has a deal to 2028 if I remember rightly for trying to get a bigger fee.

I think if we get £50-55m for both thats probably a fair representation of their actual value. Ballpark £30m for Broja given how his last 12 months have gone and then around £20m for Maatsen.

Really can’t see us getting much more for either. Both haven’t particularly excelled on their loans to the point where you would think there will be a bidding war or anything.

The fee fixed for Maatsen was 30m pounds when he signed the loan. I think Dortmund will pay that. Don't know where Broja's valuation is right now after the season

We should try to get Marquinhos.

He is the experience that we need.

Ship sailed long ago imo. Good defender but hasn't had a good couple of years now

first they need to check if he can play a single season without injuries...

Madrid plans are usually clear in advance. Think Mbappe and Davies this summer.

Wonder if we can afford Florian Wirtz?

I cannot see it. £100m minimum and we keep signing 12 year old Brazilians who play in AM for tens of millions.

He will likely go to a City, Bayern, Arsenal (if they have another solid year) I.e. a stable team ready to compete straight away next year.

I'll eat my shoe if we get more than 20m for Broja.
