He has one good season and people act like he is the best thing ever at that position.

Remember when we spent 100 mil last time on a player that was meant to change it all. We went from 12th to… 12th.

We are buying players on the up, some with experience, and guys that are undervalued.

Kante, Dave, James, Costa, Silva, Rudiger, etc….

All players that came on the cheaper side or through the academy or that were “second choice” and they won us silverware.

I'm sorry, but that comes across as a strawman argument.

No one wanted Caicedo because he cost 100m, they wanted him because he is highly rated.

Lukaku on the other hand already divided opinion before his arrival. Myself and several others on this forum expressed concerns about his arrival.

EDIT: I see you mean Enzo, but my argument about Caicedo stands

Caicedo is a United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool fan he gonna be fine.

Both Brighton and Liverpool wanted Colwill. And BOTH  lost out. We keep him and he never cost a penny. Fenway Red Sox Sports Group now end up paying 110m (!!!) which is more than Rice, for a player Brighton bought recently for 4million. Their forums laughing at us for such little reason....

Will these jokers take that £100m and offer it for some other midfielder now? Someone who perhaps wasn’t available but their club cannot possible turn down £85-100m? Barella?

not a chance

that is not their model

they buy very low and sell VERY high

they have more than a few gems who they will flip for insane money down the road

the potentials for large sales:

Bart Verbruggen
Pervis Estupiñán
Tariq Lamptey
Billy Gilmour

Jakub Moder
Yasin Ayari
Facundo Buonanotte
Kaoru Mitoma
Simon Adingra
Julio Enciso

By 1986/87, Platini was well spent.

If he had not been hurt and out for half the season in 1978/79, he would have scored 25 or more goals (as a MFer) in 11 straight seasons (the first one was Division 2).

then he turned 30 and went rapidly downhill

was out of football (as a player) 2 years later, at 31

Anciens verts : Joyeux anniversaire, Michel Platini !

10 year old Chelsea boys in '86 who grew up on John Bumstead didn't really look at such things so clinically..

Lavia is a buy now or basically forget him, as his Citeh buyback clause kicks in in 2024

also

there is a 20% sell on fee (that is NOT triggered by the 2024 buyback) that goes to Citeh (which is why SOTON was demanding £50m, as they would only net £40m

and

right NOW, Citeh will also formally be given the opportunity to match any offers submitted for Lavia

More on Caicedo 🇪🇨

Chelsea late night bid for Moises was up to £100m package.

Liverpool bid is British record on £110m package — accepted by Brighton with immediate effect.

Brighton’s board was clear: player to be sold by end of Thursday to the highest bidder.
