Chelsea are pushing for an agreement with Brighton over the signing of Moises Caicedo, with the Ecuador midfielder, 21, having already agreed personal terms. (Fabrizio Romano)

And..

Celta Vigo's Spanish midfielder Gabri Veiga, 21, has been identified by Chelsea as the ideal replacement for Manchester United-bound England midfielder Mason Mount, 24. (Standard)

On paper, yes. But both are 21 y.o.

With Enzo being 22 and Conor Gallagher 23, the average age of our midfield would be 21.75.

And that's without including the likes of Carney, Casadei, or Santos.

I cannot remember a team making it to top 4 with such a young midfield. We need experience.

Are there examples of a team failing badly to make top 4 with a young midfield ? ( from traditional top 4 teams)

I don’t think we are in comparable grounds here. We sort of really are playing real life FM which pretty much no other club is doing, replacing basically the whole squad. It could work but it would almost definitely work better with some experience mixed in.

What we do know from loads of people that became top pros and won everything is that they speak a lot about the importance of the older, experienced heads around them before they hit their prime. We have real lack of that now. I think really you want one such person per area (GK, defense, midfield, attack).
