Now we’ll hear from all the English pundits the whole season about how stupid we were for selling Mount despite him being utterly dreadful all last season and refusing numerous contract offers. Of course not providing any alternative other than keeping him against his will, having him not sign a new contract, and then walk for free. Then they’d slaughter us even more for being dumb enough to let him go for nothing,

Fuck the haters.. it was the right decision. Just turn G.Nev and the gobshite Carra off when they start spouting their usual tripe.

Not sure if true but happy if so, would've been livid if they gave him that big contract undeservingly.

Cold and ballsy from Paul. All those vids of mount overhitting passes take focus off how many counter attacks he squandered by not passing at all or playing it safe. Thank fuck he at least did it right that one time…

first time in ages English tax works noticeably in our favour.

Won't be for long that midfield of Casemiro - Bruno - Mount won't go far. Mount in his best years had the likes of Kante and Kovacic covering for him and he was decent nothing more.

As I said.

People need to relax a bit more. All this "uhh United lowered interest in Mount and is now targeting Caicedo" and "Mount will leave for free next summer if Chelsea doesnt accept the offer" was obviously just PR bullshit. In the end, we suqeezed another 5m out of it.

Some of you would have sold him for 40m.

Exactly.

What Chelsea have done in the Havertz and Mount deals is proven to not be pushed around and bullied into selling cheap. We'll see in time whether they prove to be correct sales or not, but ultimately given the circumstances surrounding contract positions and seemingly both wanting to leave, I feel we've done well to get the deals we've received and put a marker down for the future with regards to selling players on terms deemed acceptable by ourselves.

As mentioned previously the next acid test is Caicedo. I think if we can get him for somewhere in the £70-80m bracket, rather than £100m as being talked about in some reports, and we'll have done pretty well and hopefully learnt lessons from last summer when clubs grossly bid us up for their players.

Its not always smart to sell that many players because we will still need new ones, notably in midfield, striker and winger departments. Who knows how will Havertz and Mount perform elsewhere but for that money, it was smart. Its just a question of what we do with this money now. If we scout badly and bring more deadwood its no progress.

Too bad we missed on Mac Allister, he would have nice partnership with Enzo.

We should target Caicedo and Veiga/Merino. Maybe even Szoboszlai.

A quality striker and winger should also be crucial given so many departures.

Because in the end if we dont score, team will lose interest halfway into games and we are back to 0.

If we fail with Veiga least we have alternatives, hope the club looking at Cherki.

Szoboszlai’s reasonable release clause expires tomorrow so it’s unlikely to be him, sadly. He’s be the best Mount replacement we could make.

But I read the release clause becomes active again in January? Maybe we can put a couple millions more like we did with Nkunku and Jackson and get it done.
