If city get a serious punishment and lose Pep it would be great for the pl. I don't believe any of the other top teams has a structure to consecutively win.  It will be a great two - three year span.

Like Klopp, I highly doubt Pep would immediately jump to another PL club. It would destroy their legacy with those supporters. Perhaps if they each took a 1 year break they’d be more understanding.

But yeah, if Pep in particular expresses even a little interest in coming to Chelsea we should do whatever it takes. Let him choose his own salary if you have to. He could create a juggernaut here just like he has with City. 

And unlike recent years we do finally have lots of players he could implement his style with. Think about what Pep could do with Nkunku, Mudryk, and Madueke in attack. He’s already worked with Sterling. We’ve got plenty of young CB’s who are comfortable on the ball so we’re set there. Enzo is the ideal Pep midfielder. Both fullback areas are stacked and include numerous players Pep wanted City to sign like Chilly and Cucu.

We would 100% need to get him a creative attacking mid like KDB and a new keeper but other than that we have all the tools he’d need.

And we also now have the football structure above that he craves with the new sporting and technical directors.

We haven't done what City have done. These laws did not exist when Roman did his thing and he didn't even get us sponsored by someone like Gazprom 😆. All we've done is use long contracts to spread FFP costs and the new rules for that will start in the summer anyway.

There are 100 charges, if this was a normal business, someone would be going to jail. City will do their thing though. They have a super team of lawyers to deploy who will drag this out forever but I expect at least a relegation. It could even lead to them getting retrospective point deductions and getting stripped of their titles over that time. They will make an example out of them especially with Newcastle new on the block and talk of more Arab investment.

Only tabloids will say we are "cheating" - it's just business risk no other club is willing to take. People seem to forget that the price of longer amortisation period is risk of getting stuck with 20 unsellable Drinkwaters on big fat checks for nearly a decade. Actually, if things would turn this way, it could easily sink the club.

How can the rules be broken 'legally'? Actions are either within the rules, and therefore legal, or beyond the rules, and therefore illegal. We did absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever. Not even close. We are well within the rules as they stand.

We actually seem to be an avant-garde inspiration for rule-making as the limit of loaned players also seem to be targeted mainly towards Chelsea.

Now they will have to change the FFP evaluation periods I guess, as there is a freedom of contracts in most of the world, so no way to ban an 8-year deals here.  The FFP changes should also have some transition periods, so there's still some time left to use this tactic.

I believe that FFP assessment periods are already changing from this year. This change predates anything inspired by our behaviour during the last two Windows.

Yes, you must be right. It would be against the law, certainly in the UK, for UEFA to attempt to restrict the length of player contracts. They can though change the rules regarding FFP amortisation of transfer fees, and that is what they are doing.

That is true there is a very fatal risk (but unlikely) of all the players flopping. The encouraging thing is the owners learned from the mistake of the 5 bad summer buys. With young prospects there is always resale value, unlike with donkeys like Auba and Sterling(more of a duck from his dribbling style).

The recruitment has improved since the team of directors was hired and the data driven model seems to be a success as the quality of signings already looks so much better than last summer or even anything I've seen in the Roman era.

Even under our best managers we made some horrendous buys like Mou (Kezman, Shevchenko, Bouhlarouz (although his second spell yielded less glaring donkey buys other than Torres, while we got Willian, Matic, Fabregas and Costa)) and Conte ( Zappa, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Morata *sigh* too many to list). I expect less of this going forward.

Let's be selfish here for a second. Unless we have completely wasted our money this January, Europa League qualification is very possible. If City were now to face a significant points deduction, all of a sudden the chance of a Champions League place comes into the realm of possibility.

I visit Bluemoon once in a while. At the time many there simply refused to understand the difference between charges being found to be time barred, and their club actually being found not guilty.

I didn't know that about the judges' links.

West Ham United are likely to ask for around £90-100million for the transfer of Declan Rice this summer, but his price tag was previously as high as £150m.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, with the reporter adding that Arsenal and Chelsea have an interest in the England international, though it may also be worth keeping an eye on Manchester United and Manchester City joining the race.

Rice has shone as one of the finest midfielders in the Premier League in the last few years, and it seems inevitable that he’ll eventually get himself a big move to a top six side.

Providing an update on the situation, Romano said: “West Ham always asked for big money for Rice, it was £150m one year ago today.

“I think the price could now be around £90-100m, but it depends on many factors and it’s really too early to predict the final price tag.

“Arsenal and Chelsea have always been interested but let’s see if Manchester United or Man City will join the race.”

It still seems a bit early to say for sure what’s going to happen with Rice, but West Ham manager David Moyes recently commented on the 24-year-old’s future, saying that if he moves it will be for a British transfer record fee.

“Undoubtedly Declan is going to be a top player. He’ll be a British transfer record if he ever leaves West Ham,” Moyes said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

Arsenal look like they’d benefit hugely from bringing in Rice as a long-term successor to the likes of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, who aren’t getting any younger.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have just invested huge money in Enzo Fernandez so it remains to be seen if a similar style of player will be their priority for the summer.
