If it's just a random bloggers like Simon Phillips then no, but Goldberg has been hosting podcast with many big name journos (Honigstein, Johnson, and Twomey for example who have an inside source within the club).

Just because he had those journalists as guests, it doesn't mean they would divulge their "secrets" to someone who is basically a regular Chelsea fan.

Simon Phillips is the one who writes in The Athletic?

Let's agree or disagree, some of those journos like Honigstein for example leaked the Havertz story in that Podcast around April, long before other Journos published it.

I can't remember when it was but I recall Simon Johnson mention Havertz in one of his stories previously, also long before this all broke out.

If i remember correctly Johnson confirmed our interest on Havertz around May.

Lets face it, even the 'more realiable itk' jornos for Chelsea have absolutely no idea what is going on until everyone else. I mean how many of them called Ziyech or Werner before everyone else knew? Because one of these jokers may have said in March that Chelsea were interested in one player doesn't mean they know sh*t. All they did was take a guess, I mean even I thought to myself since last year Harvetz may be a good player for us, so it was hardly a rocket science call.

I agree on Ziyech but Werner was hardly a secret, since Dec Law, Johnson, Nizaar keep saying he is our no. 1 target for ST even ahead Dembele.

Chelsea could target RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, according to The Athletic, the reports suggest Upamecano could be a realistic option plus the likes Kalidou Koulibaly for The Blues. #CFC

Upamecano is realistic but Koulibaly just isn't unless ADL dropped his 100m valuation.

My only worry about Upamecano is that he is pretty rash and he gets caught over playing at times. However, if he is available for a decent fee which we could recoup most of by selling Zouma, I would be ok with it.

Upamecano and Zouma are basically the exact same player only that Upmecano has more match rhythm from playing regularly and is a few years younger. not much of an upgrade tho. I thought we could rather use a disciplined, tactically very astute CB in the Romagnoli module

I agree. It is why I said that I am ok if it is a virtual wash with Zouma going out. The only thing I think he has over Zouma is age as he still has time to iron out some of the problems you would have hoped Zouma would have done by now.

That Upamecano bit has taken out of context.

Simon Johnson was going through some names that he thinks we could target. Never said anything that the club actually could move for him.

The only journalists I'm taking as true "ITK" on Chelsea matters are Matt Law and David Ornstein.

When it comes to German players (like Werner and Havertz) I'm not buying anything I read unless it's from Rafa Honigstein or Christian Falk (cfbayern).

Everyone else just sounds like they're guessing.

Chelsea join the race for Dayot Upamecano?

By Matt Law, Football Editor | 1m

Chelsea are reportedly considering launching a move for RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.

The 21-year-old's existing deal with his German club is due to expire next summer, and it is understood that he can be signed for a fee in the region of £53m before the end of June.

A recent report claimed that Arsenal had beaten Manchester United to the signature of the France Under-21 international, who has made 27 Bundesliga appearances during the 2019-20 campaign.

However, according to The Athletic, the defender's future is still up in the air, and Chelsea could attempt to bring him to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Frank Lampard's side, who are back in league action against the champions Manchester City on Thursday, have already agreed a deal with Leipzig to sign German forward Timo Werner this summer.

Versatile attacker Hakim Ziyech will also arrive at the club in the coming weeks as the Blues attempt to put together a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
