BC is def better than what we have, but that does not make him an 80M pounds player.....23 years old or 28, he aint worth that outlay.

if he was 28yo  (thus 29yo more than likely sometime in the coming season if not even before) and we paid £80m for him I would lose my fucking mind

Chelsea served a ban during last summer's transfer window and that cost them the chance to register any new players ahead of the 2019/2020 season

Chelsea's two-window transfer ban cost them the chance to sign Netherlands wonderkid Xavier Mbuyamba.

The Blues were unable to register any new players during the 2019 summer transfer ban as a result of serving a punishment in regards to breaching FIFA rules in their dealings with overseas players under the age of 18.

That decision was later overturned in December, but the west London outfit opted not to sign a single player in the January transfer window despite links to Jadon Sancho, Moussa Dembele and Ben Chilwell among others.

And by the time the winter window was open, Mbuyamba had already been snapped up by La Liga giants Barcelona.

Only time will tell if the Blues end up ruing this particular transfer decision.

But the wonderkid has revealed that he was keen to join the west London outfit after training with the youth teams last summer.

I like his characteristics. We rarely produce any good CBs from our youth system either. Get him in.

I've done a little research on several hot LB prospects and it seems every one of them is very good going forward but not great defensively. That's just the modern fullback. Only very few are world class at both.

You either get a fullback like Azpi or Wan Bissaka who are basically defense first and nearly useless going forward or you get an all out attacking fullback who you just hope doesn't fuck up very often to cost you.

Look at Liverpool's or City's fullbacks. Robertson, TAA, Walker, and Mendy are all fantastic going forward. But if you have a quality winger who is direct and aggressive they all can be got at.

If we sign Chilwell it's the same. There will be times against quality wingers where he's going to get burned. It's inevitable. I've watched numerous big CL games where Marcelo looks like a clown defensively. But he's so outrageously skillful going forward that it's overlooked and accepted.

Almost in any position, it is very2 difficult to find complete player. The question is what you want that player to do and can you cover his weaknesses.

come on marina,,just fly to italy and make a bid to one of Skriniar, Romagnoli or even Koulibally. enough this season we concede more than 40 goals and this is the worst between the top 7 now....

She may fly somewhere on one month vacation soon :Goober:

On a serious note you are right.

Liverpool scored 13 goals more than us this season, City 18 more.

I think Werner and Ziyech will be enough to close this gap. Also Pulisic, CHO had injuries and their numbers will only get better.

But when we speak about conceded goals there are 7 teams better than us and Burnley conceded same as us. Brighton, Newcastle, Arsenal and Spurs just one more.

Offensive play can impact defense this is why we were 3rd last season in conceded goals after Pool and City and no David Luiz was not the reason. But Sarriball. And I do not mean this as a good thing.

So how do we close the gap in conceded goals with best teams? Yeah, top CB is MUST! Did not see any rumors so this is a worry.

Lampard on more new signings...

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8443509/Chelsea-boss-Frank-Lampard-calls-summer-signings.html

Lampard says: ‘This is Chelsea Football Club and we want to close the gap, and signings like Timo and Ziyech are nice statements. There are other areas we may want to improve on as we go along. They have to be players who are in the market and we feel we can get.

‘We know there is a big gap going upwards, when you look at the performance of Liverpool and Manchester City in the last couple of years. So we need to try to work to close that gap but we have to be ready to give the players that come in, the two players you’re talking about, some time for adapting to the League.’
