I still find it hard to think we have him. I know hes not a spring chicken but this lad is the class we need. But theres not many like him.

And yes I know the ups n downs and Im talking out my arse but imagine KK next to him!

the best realistic partner for him for a couple years would be Felipe from Atletico Madrid

so wish we would swap Kante for him and Thomas Partey

and loan Sarr to Simeone as a pot sweetener, which would so help his development

A classy top class professional who oozes class.

He should be starting every league game if fit for me.

This one aged badly...but I guess we all learned something today. I really thought he would transform us instantly but I guess even he needs time  adapting

As long as he is given the same time as Kepa and Alonso eh?

Give the guy a bit of time. Even for his age its still a change. Even then, what do you want a 36 year old guy to do in a team thats continuously exposed without the ball?

But no one give the same excuse for our cb last season. So is it the protection or like most people said our cb were just one of the worse in epl.

we gave our CB's years of patience overall, but at some point the errors become too great

also, a LOT of this is on Lampard and the other coaches

Back to my point, is our cb bad or we don't protect them?

Btw not sure, yesterday's game was a good example of how we defend our d line. Their three goals came from idiotic errors. Barnsley was better example.

In decades that I watch football, I cannot remember a single case in an elite club, in which

a player who has been in the club for less than a month.
a player who does not yet know the club, nor his colleagues
a player who does not speak the language of the country where he is playing
a player who has never played in that league
a player who had not yet played a single game for the club

is named team captain in his first official game.

This is not his fault.

Tell me about it, I’m sure his armband tripped his feet.

Two mistakes in his two games. Other than those mistakes he has been really solid in defence and really good on the ball. Crisp fast passing. Much faster passing than any other of our CBs. If he irons out these mistakes he is a nailed on starter for me, at least for the teams that don't have rapid forwards like Liverpool.
