His attitude is crazy positive. He just is not fuzzed by all those missesΒ

He mentioned in an interview not too long ago that those misses, the lack of goals were affecting him earlier this season. But he then sort of made peace with it that maybe this season is just not his season in front of goal and tries to make sure he helps the team in other ways like providing assists if he's not scoring.Β

At the very least he's made a complete mockery of people who used to defend Torres because at least he used to try hard.Β

His work rate for the team is exceptional and whilst he's still struggled in front of goal, I definitely believe that he is adjusting more to the league than earlier in the season and I still feel that he'll come good. He's not one that hides, which is huge because when things weren't going right the likes of Torres and Morata left us effectively playing with 10 men in many games.

In my opinion we look a better team with him in it, which is probably the biggest compliment he could be given currently.

Just a pity he couldn’t do it earlier in the season.

That was a bigΒ issue for me under Frank playing off the left. He still had the freedom to come in at times but he looked very very nervous/hadΒ disbelief in his own ability at times.Β

Obviously still not perfect,Β we needΒ him to get his offside awareness sorted, there was anΒ offside tonight from one of Jorginho’s pass which was poor, also the same as the game v City I think it was a similar pass/situationΒ too.Β

Unfortunately I have to agree. It was so clear after the Arsenal game too.

The work rate thing though I remember when Torres had a weird patchΒ with Jose,Β doing the donkey workΒ and it seemed to ease people a bitΒ although we still expected not much in goal returns but at least it was closer like playing with 10.5 men than 10 πŸ˜‚. I suppose fans appreciate people who if its not going well trying to do the donkey work, do a job for the team. That was a big issue for Morata at times, even when he did try he’d end up getting stupid bookings or conceding daft fouls. Also Bakayoko in CM just absolutely naive and forgetting he had to do both sides of the game when he couldn’t trap the fucking thing 🀣

Sooner or later he has to improve his goalscoring form if he wants to make it here. I'll admit even if his finishing is extremely disappointing in general, he also appears to have the worst of luck. However, I really hate it when people say:Β "Well, at least he works his arse off". That'sΒ not good enough from the player who should be our main goal threat. I've heard it many times before and it never ends well.

Agree. I don't know he has been cursed or we have been cursed or whatever but even when he was missing chances in the Bundesliga, his big chance conversion rate was never as bad as this season:

2016/17 - 67%

2017/18 - 30%

2018/19 - 31.3%

2019/20 - 46.2%

2020/21 - 22.7%

He has clearly shown that he can score goals but whether he can do so consistently remains to be seen. One can only hope his luck changes next season.

And that is why we also need to sign a #9. That would help take the pressure off Werner - and maybe see him do better as a result of it - and ease our worries! Because if we take aside those misses (not to say they're excusable), his goal and assist tallies aren't bad for someone who is a more of anΒ inside forward/a second striker but of course it's bad if we look at him as the main #9, the main goal source etc.

Any more arguments of player X should be playing ahead of Werner should be finally put to bed. Not one of our attack has performed at a consistent level to be a regular starter.Β

Havertz missingΒ a sitter vs Arsenal. Mount invisible in the big games. Ziyech lackluster. Pulisic missing a sitter vs Villa. CHO and his horrid decision making.Β

This argument should now be dead in the water.Β

Werner is in his prime and not performing, while he is one of the greatest Bundesliga players to ever play Bundesliga, even though I never rated him. We just lack world class players. We only have Silva and Kante, who are truly world class

scored an offside goal again and was not even his fault lol. guy cant catch a break.

fluffed two shots where clean contact probably would have meant a goal. His crosses were mostly terrible apart from one instance. If he scores a winner in the CL final everything will be forgiven ofc.

Is 25 years old considered being in prime?

And where are your comments on your boy Ziyech?Β πŸ‘€

He also does not perform, but at least he rarely plays and was injured couple of times. Werner plays every match
