US and UK Economists project UK unemployment could rapidly rise to more than 6 million people shortly, around 21% of the entire workforce, and unemployment across the Atlantic could reach 52.8 million, around 32% of the workforce.

More than the Great Depression of the 1930s

Stop calling it an "inept response"--yesterday revealed the outrageous "reason"-- new quid pro quo

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/4/3/1933923/-Stop-calling-it-an-inept-response-yesterday-revealed-the-outrageous-reason-new-quid-pro-quo

Please follow the money here:  yesterday on the dais five people revealed the reason for the lack of supplies in hospitals.

The COVID task force is empowered to obtain needed supplies (both the finished product and the materials needed to produce them).

In normal times, those supplies would be distributed by FEMA to where they are needed most.

But the President has had “talks” with six companies (he has had “talks” with many private CEOs) who will get those supplies from the federal government and SELL THEM TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER.

Why???

When asked why governors have to bid against each other, driving the price up, the answer was “Because the federal government is a only a back up,” because “we are not going to disrupt the supply chain,” because this is “what markets are for,” and because “governors could have bought these supplies a long time ago when there wasn’t competition.”

Do not call this “inept” or “stupid” or “uninformed” or a “failure. “

This system is designed to move public tax dollars into private pockets and what is more, you can be absolutely certain that those CEO talks include a quid pro quo—a monopoly market for 6 companies and big campaign contributions (or private kickbacks) to Trump.

Theres a bigger issue, one within capitalism that is if it aint 'profitable' forget it.

Take PPE masks, gloves, and testing equipment. Because most goods are ordered and delivered using Just in Time they aren't there, and a pandemic isn't profitable. Classic highlight of capitalisms major fault line, profit before people.

On a positive note dildo sales have increased by 78%....

Strange times. We've surrendered our liberty and freedom to the State. Parliament has disappeared. All private enterprise has been Nationalised. Movement controlled. All our freedom just given up without a fight. It reminds me of.....China.

Also here in the UK theres this weekly virtue signalling -everyone comes out and claps the state NHS at 8 00pm on Thursdays. Funnily enough in Maos Red Book a weekly collective applause of the state is encouraged....

Indeed. The way how fast it went to no public events and staying at home.

The majority of the population (90%+) that handles covid just fine should be more worried with the politics rather than covid19.

Well if you are surprised those who study Bible Prophecy expected this to happen in the future. The one world order to be run by a popular leader is slowly being put into place. We are just seeing the shadow of what is really coming.

Taxpayers Paid Millions to Design a Low-Cost Ventilator for a Pandemic. Instead, the Company Is Selling Versions of It Overseas.

As coronavirus sweeps the globe, there is not a single Trilogy Evo Universal ventilator — developed with government funds — in the U.S. stockpile. Meanwhile, Royal Philips N.V. has sold higher-priced versions to clients around the world.

Five years ago, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services tried to plug a crucial hole in its preparations for a global pandemic, signing a $13.8 million contract with a Pennsylvania manufacturer to create a low-cost, portable, easy-to-use ventilator that could be stockpiled for emergencies.

This past September, with the design of the new Trilogy Evo Universal finally cleared by the Food and Drug Administration, HHS ordered 10,000 of the ventilators for the Strategic National Stockpile at a cost of $3,280 each.

But as the pandemic continues to spread across the globe, there is still not a single Trilogy Evo Universal in the stockpile.

Instead last summer, soon after the FDA’s approval, the Pennsylvania company that designed the device — a subsidiary of the Dutch appliance and technology giant Royal Philips N.V. — began selling two higher-priced commercial versions of the same ventilator around the world.

“We sell to whoever calls,” said a saleswoman at a small medical-supply company on Staten Island that bought 50 Trilogy Evo ventilators from Philips in early March and last week hiked its online price from $12,495 to $17,154. “We have hundreds of orders to fill. I think America didn’t take this seriously at first, and now everyone’s frantic.”

Last Friday, President Donald Trump invoked the Defense Production Act to compel General Motors to begin mass-producing another company’s ventilator under a federal contract. But neither Trump nor other senior officials made any mention of the Trilogy Evo Universal. Nor did HHS officials explain why they did not force Philips to accelerate delivery of these ventilators earlier this year, when it became clear that the virus was overwhelming medical facilities around the world.

An HHS spokeswoman told ProPublica that Philips had agreed to make the Trilogy Evo Universal ventilator “as soon as possible.” However, a Philips spokesman said the company has no plan to even begin production anytime this year.

Instead, Philips is negotiating with a White House team led by Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to build 43,000 more complex and expensive hospital ventilators for Americans stricken by the virus.

snip

On top of that, the fucking grifters sold the yank national PPE reserves out the back door and are now using 6 giant firms to buy up all PPE and resell at a HUGE market to the desperate states, cities and hospitals, plus taking command of the manufacturing process NOT to aid its fair and fast distribution, but instead to also grift off THAT

the yanks are insane if they do not hold Nuremberg-style trials after this is all over and Rump is out the door and stripped of all legal power and protections

heads need to be chopped

pay-per-view it

Also people viewing each other with vague suspicion when out, and several police forces here have set up websites where citizens can snitch on others.

During WW2 occupied cities and towns only had a handful of Gestapo, but were successful at suppressing dissent relying on informants -its how totalitarian states work

Trump has gone much further than the Dems wanted to go on this,  and effectively introduced a free health service giving free treatment to everyone who needs it.
