He's a bit like Saka at Arsenal.

Can play as a full back, but his strengths scream as a winger.

yes, great comparison

their versatility may fuck them for a spell, as they never get a chance (Lamptey less so as he is playing mostly at RB) to settle in at one position

The solution in CFC academy football was Reece at RCB in a three with Tariq at RWB. In an era when CFC produced a lot of outstanding development sides, that 2018 group was the pick of the bunch. They brushed aside a really top Arsenal side, including Saka, over two games in the Youth Cup Final, then went to an even better ManU team who played really well on the day but were also brushed aside. The only blemish on that quadruple winning season was failing to turn up for the Youth League Final and being easily beaten by a good Barcelona team.

I'm not expecting ever to see a better CFC Youth side than that one.

Has been the standout fullback in the PL so far this season for me. Made the right move leaving here and tbf I think he should be very wary about moving somewhere after 1 season. If hes gonna play every week at Brighton and they remain in the PL a second full season would be hugely beneficial. He’s still young and will get the big move eventually.

So if Atletico, Bayern and Sevilla are after him, do we have a change of trying to get him back?

I don't think Chelsea handled his situation badly. Just that with Reece around, I don't think he will consider moving to Chelsea.

Brighton's fight against relegation has been hit by another setback to Tariq Lamptey's recovery from a hamstring injury.

The rapid right wing-back has already missed the last 13 Premier League matches since sustaining the injury against Fulham in mid-December.

Had Lamptey been close to a return?

Lamptey has been back in full training.

He was mentioned by head coach Graham Potter as a possible contender for the bench for last Saturday's 1-0 defeat at West Brom.

But the 20-year-old was not involved in the matchday squad.

What has Graham Potter said?

Potter, speaking at Thursday's press conference ahead of the home game against Leicester on Saturday evening, said: "Tariq won't be fit. He's had a little setback this week, so it's disappointing for him.

"We're trying to get to the bottom of it.

"The problem is with his hamstring. He is seeing a specialist."

Who will play in Lamptey's place?

Joel Veltman has been outstanding in Lamptey's position and Potter will continue to rely on the experienced Dutch international.

Polish prospect Michal Karbownik, signed in October, provides extra back-up.

Have Brighton got any other serious injury issues?

Brighton, currently three points above the relegation zone, are already without left wing-back Solly March (knee) for the rest of the season.

Is there anything else I need to know?

Yes. Andy Naylor looked into Lamptey's likely problems with injury in January.

Seems like Lamptey is an injury prone player? Hope he can sort out his hamstring problems.
