Spike 12,049
We as Chelsea fans are a sentimental bunch that grow attached to players if they are here for an extended amount of time.Sir Alex is brilliant at moving on players whereas Chelsea isn't. When United were a one man team with Van Nistelrooy he made a giant gamble by selling him to Real Madrid.I don't want him to go, but he probably should. If he accepts a lesser role and takes a pay cut he should stay. Maybe bigger bonues for him if he takes a paycut?
susu 41
you wanna say tata to our only striker for the past 8 years. and who do you think will replace him? torres is getting better but we can all see that there is something wrong wen he does not start a single big match. sturridge has miles to go, so the only option is buying some1 for another 40-50 mil. plus dd has more than proved that he is still one of the best strikers in the world and if he leaves we would have the biggest boots ever to fill. we need to phase him out and the only way that can happen is by keeping him another season, rotating dd and nando and(maybe) danny. but most importantly hoping that nando comes to form and takes the striker role for himself. at this moment we NEED DROGBA. try imagining going into the cl final without him and u will know what i mean.Im totally flashed of the performance of an “in form drogba“ ... really, but in the same time i have worries that no striker will have any progress as long as didier is in the team. There is nothing wrong with him but how would you feel if you are the World-Class-Striker ABC (to avoid a anti drogba, pro torres discussion) coming to chelsea and you have to play all the PL-games (the smaller ones) and the first cup-games til the big games coming up and drogba takes over, because he is (and he really is) the king of wembley. No matter how good the Striker ABC has performed recently ... you know? This can´t be healthy for the confidence and for the squad-harmony ... and so for the future of the club. manpe 10,861
Look, he is still the best aerial player in the world. That's a bold statement. Even if he used to be, then he isn't anymore.
capriccioso 2,545
That's a bold statement. Even if he used to be, then he isn't anymore.I don't think I've seen anyone else with the precise timing of the jump and perfect combination of strength and height as well as the technique to regularly win headers of late. He dominated Skrtel, who the Scousers highly rate (for what that's worth) in the air.
didierforever 7,349
Lulu could be implemented as a second choice, or even Piazon/Feruz. What we truly need to sign someone of an Anelka mould signing once more, or give Lulu a chance.gettin some1 of anelka's quality will cost 30-40mil. so square 1. Madmax 9,219
Look, he is still the best aerial player in the worldHe's evolved so much though, that's the reason for his longevity. Sure he can still throw defenders off their feet with a mere push but he's grown so much as a player. Briliant technique, ball control, dead ball ability and so on.If Drogba wants 2 years, give him 2 years. He's earned what he wants.Let's not get too sentimental here, 'quit while you're ahead' sees everyone happy.
We Hate Scouse 10,326
Sir Alex is brilliant at moving on players whereas Chelsea isn't.Giggs, Scholes, Gary Neville, Ferdinand, Owen, Van Der Sar...........SAF gets the most out of players regardless of age. Drogba still has more to offer.
BleedsBlue 1,549
If we do give him a 2 year contract extension, there is a high probability of him leaving in a bitter manner.Better for both parties,if he leaves this season and more importantly on a good note. Strike 7,487
Let's not get too sentimental here, 'quit while you're ahead' sees everyone happy.Fair enough but with didi gone, we have no target man and i know we cant play without a target man. Torres may score a hat-trick vs QPR but against the Big teams (Barca, Bayern), we need a big player who holds up the ball and involves others in attacks. We wouldn't have had even 15% possession without Drogba against Barca. u Might say there are other great aerial players but who better than Didi? He controls almost every long ball. BleedsBlue 1,549
It'd be a bad idea to let Drogba leave and sign a world class striker in the summer. The whole point of letting him leave is to allow Danny and Lukaku(if not loaned) chances to play as a center forward. There will be no point getting Cavani and letting Drogba leave while keeping our other center forward alternatives. So if Drogba leaves,I personally don't want Chelsea to sign any strikers because it will be unlikely for the new striker, whoever it may be,to establish instant success at Chelsea and play as well as a 34 year old Drogba. capriccioso 2,545
If we let him go, we have to replace his influence with the combined efforts of Torres, Sturridge and Lukaku. Even that may not be enough to replace the most remarkable striker of his generation. Melanicus
