Thought at the very least he'd save Konate's or Elliot's.

Yes he was shocking (considering his standards) but the weight of blame on our wasted chances outweigh his performance in the shootout.

Konate's shot should have been saved for sure. He wasn't composed tonight and jumped way to early against a CB.

honestly would take super cup and club world cup over league cup anyday even if they are easier to win in isolation. Just annoying that we AGAIN took out spuds in those damned two legged semis only to lose on fkin pens.

Not happy with his approach to the pen. you could clearly see he was not waremd up to take a pen and took it like a goal kick.

But tbf it was not kepa's fault only. we should have easily won in regular time with the gazillions of chances we had.

Tuchel make the right decision

its sad that is in eleven penaltys he can't make at least one save but there are things that coaches can't control

I wouldn't touch any player having a "monster" game. Mendy's confidence was sky high and that would likely more then make up for his lack of pk quality.

Worked in the Super Cup. Didn't today.

Cant blame the boy really, or even blame Tuchel, this was potentially going to happen at some point… just the way the cookie crumbles with penalties.

To lose on the 22nd penalty, its pretty unlucky.

To be overly critical, hardly any of his PK saves in shootouts were really 'high pressure scenarios".

Villareal, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Spurs come to mind only. The only one that can really be considered high pressure was the League Cup against City and he failed there too.

Kepa's penalty shootout record at Chelsea:
vs Liverpool - lost (final)
vs Liverpool - lost (final)
vs Man City - lost (final)

vs Aston Villa - won (R3)
vs Southampton - won (R4)
vs Eintracht Frankfurt - won (SF)
vs Spurs - won (SF)
vs Villareal - won (final)
