NikkiCFC 8,324
Before season we were afraid we won't be able to buy him from Real after loan expires now looks like nobody wants him. Fernando
DDA 9,941
He is a good player but isn't playing anywhere near to his full potential. He needs to really up his game. Too casual at times. I can see why he didn't get a chance at Madrid. kellzfresh and Johnnyeye

He simply doesn't score. IF he can backup Jorginho (need to see him start in that role in at least 2 or 3 games) and if we cock up and don't get Tonali, sure, keep him, but in terms of an AMF he is nowhere near the level we need. Also, I see him as a direct block to us buying Barella. kellzfresh
ulsterchelsea 3,221
Was properly excited when we got him, have to say tho I'm fairly underwhelmed. Need more, more goals, more assists, more! Personally I wouldn't be interested in bringing him in full time. Sooner see us attempt Isco or Asensio if there are any swaps to be done with Madrid for hazard
Rapkun 668
Personally, I hope we won't buy him. talented but he doesn't offer much threat going forward and his defensive game is perhaps on par with Barkley which doesn't say much. Not to mention he's highly rated and would cost much more money than he's really worth. Keep the money and try buying either of Ndombele or Aouar IMO. Kovavic doesn't score enough but neither does Barella...? For me, Barella is more of a box to box midfielder as opposed to the more offensive minded goal scoring MF player we need. He has one goal in Serie A this season. He is more suited to where Kante plays but he wouldn't dislodge Kante in my eyes. Not even in the next 2 or 3 years after this season. Cant see Kantes physical attributes declining massively either and his game has improved here on a few different levels, mainly tactically, technically as well as offensively this season. And in his best years I see this trend continuing. kellzfresh

I am (granted this is pure projection) looking at Barella as both a fill-in for Jorginho (and maybe would even have a shot at benching him if he was able to both pass and set up as a deep holder PLUS offer far better defence) and Kante plus eventually a double pivot with Kante if Sarri ever switches up the formation or gets sacked. He also could play where Kovacic now does when we need super hardcore defence. I also do not think we have much of a shot at him anymore, after reading all these new reports about what happened with the transfer attempt. I think he stays in Italy. I am losing hope on obtaining Sandro Tonali too. It is not looking good on either front.
Fernando 6,585
That's why a loan with option to buy was a really good deal from the board. I would still buy him if we get him for a cheaper prize then what Real madrid are asking. We shall see.

Even then if Kova was to show desire to stay here and Madrid were open to selling him, it would be worth looking into. It depends on Modric this summer too, if Inter renew interest and push for him? Kovacic is undoubtedly viewed as Madrids successor for Modric. But again if Modric stays would he be happy splitting minutes? Â

If there is or isnt, theres every chance a deal can be done. Madrid dont miss Kovacic and the player himself is happier playing here than rotting on a bench. Was rumours last year we were talking about making the move permanent.

Was rumours last year we were talking about making the move permanent. It looks like we have almost no chance with Barella so I am oki with signing Kovacic IF he shows via starting in place of Jorginho in multiple games that he can handle DH DMF role. If he cannot, so long! He is wuthless as an AMF. I am super unhappy with almost everything about the club atm, from the board, to Sarri, to contracts, to players on-pitch performance, on down. We are shambles from a future-forward perspective if we make no monster and numerous moves. People are in delusional la-la land if they think we can go forward with Luiz, Azpi, Alonso, Kovacic (as AMF) Pedro, Willian (plus lose Hazard and CHO) and Higuain (long term) and be a top club. Special Juan 28,141
Offers nothing really, ambles around the field with the odd back heel drag and that's it. Splitting hairs between who is the worst between him and Barkley, both very average players.
Popular Post! Tomo 21,751 Posted February 19, 2019 Popular Post! Share Posted February 19, 2019 Unpopular opinion alert. I think he's class but being used completely wrong. Should Sarri leave i would actually sign him on a perm for DM. DDA, Arlen Correa, Fulham Broadway and 6 others
