The international break comes at the wrong time for him :D One of his best performances for Chelsea was certainly the home League game against Man United, he was a beast. He is completely somewhere else now so I would still start with Giroud.

I thought it was obvious I wasn’t referring to this forum as online trolling because he would never read any comments here. Have you ever been on his social media pages? I’ve seen Chelsea fans abuse him, hope he dies/gets injuries, insult his race and family, etc. It’s disgraceful.

Nothing wrong with criticising his game as he has been underwhelming so far, but does it always have to be so vitriolic and spiteful? Even when he does something good people struggle to acknowledge it, or they’ll manage to turn it into a negative. I get the frustration. I just don’t get the need for Chelsea supporters to continuously pot our own. It’s a shit read on what is generally a very good forum.

But anyway, I think Alvaro will come good and I hope we persist. He makes good runs and finds himself in good positions. I think his poor finishing is largely due to a lack of confidence and is something that will improve in time.

I agree. I hope he comes good too. That's the best outcome for all. I also agree thay Twitter and Instagram trolls who attack him and his family (especially racially/ethnically) are scum.

I think it is just Dortmund. Alcacer is a just above average striker like Bats but Dortmund with their super attacking tactics they have employed for almost a decade now just need a converter up front. Probably the same here if Sarri stays for a few seasons.

Alcácer has 2 more goals tonight for the Spanish national team, he really is on fire. I am not, btw, saying at all we should target him, just admiring his play this year.

Alvaro Morata reveals reason behind miserable form and makes promise to fans

https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/736917/Chelsea-news-Alvaro-Morata-Premier-League-Olivier-Giroud-Maurizio-Sarri-Man-Utd

CHELSEA striker Alvaro Morata has revealed he struggled to maintain his goalscoring form last season because he was playing with an injury.

The Spaniard arrived at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid last summer in a deal worth £58m.

Morata got off to a flying start in England, netting seven times in his first seven appearances.

But the goals soon dried up and he eventually lost his place to January signing Olivier Giroud.

Morata claims he was playing through pain in an effort to be selected for Spain’s World Cup squad.

Not even close, i think some of you are forgetting just how bad Torres was!!!

I don't think he's much different to Torres in terms of performances and production for the team. To be honest there's quite a few similarities in both with regards to style, attitude, etc.

The biggest problem with Torres was that the money paid for him at the time was huge and once Drogba left, we were in a position where we had no other option but to play him.

At least with Morata he's proven to be dispensable and droppable, and for that reason I think it doesn't become quite as infuriating. To be honest I think he's a pretty good option to have as part of a striking group and I think he would thrive far more being under the radar as opposed to the main man, the pressure which he clearly struggles with.

The fact still remains though that a top striker that will score us 20+ a season is the biggest need at the moment.

As strange as this sounds his missed chances is the one reason i haven't totally given up on Morata yet, to constantly get into those positions is a skill in itself and that's why i simply cannot put him on the same level as Torres, El Nino just stood static most of the time and we were basically playing with ten men and a stranger up top doing his own thing.

How many times on average in say 5 games did Torres get a genuine chance of a goal? 3 maybe 4 at most, Morata beats that number in 20 minutes vs PAOK alone. As much as Morata frustrates me he doesn't come close to Torres in shitness in my opinion.

As far as the bolded line goes, this might prove to be an unpopular opinion but we really missed a trick not going for Lacazette.

Yeah I remember people having similar frustrations with Cavani, he used to miss a lot of chances

Agree to this. I think there are a lot of similarities to their moaning attitudes and general petulance but Morata does seem more mobile and better in space than Torres.

Lacazette would be ideal. Just to think that we've spent similar money on batshuayi, morata and giroud to what arsenal have spent on lacazette and aubameyang is pretty poor.

I think our system makes it harder for Strikers to thrive in general. We dont really create a lot of chances for the strikers. Our chance creation usually fall to the wide players and midfielders. The strikers feed from scraps.
