We aren't going to do shit in the January window, I can already sense it.:(

Bats has been absolute shit at Valencia, he is tracking to SIX goals in 45 games!!

We are so fucked at CF

Sarri needs to maybe move Hazard over to a Mertens role

Its about the only thing I can think of atm

this game was very disappointing at pretty much every level save Kepa and the CB's

Even Hazard looks like he is regressing

we need much more training time than we are getting

We have to try it.  Willian on the left, Hazard at CF, and Pedro on the right.

I've been banging on about the training time.  I think we were very fortunate to get the results that we were getting at the start of the season.  We were improving, week after week, but since playing 2 matches a week for the past month or so, it's kind of stopped.  Our play is too slow and not sharp.  It's a lot of passing, but no movement, ATM.  The 3rd man runs that make up the vertical element of Sarri's vertical tiki-taka are not there yet, or when they do make the run, players aren't making the pass.

We knew it was going to be a work in progress.  Unfortunately, we won't really get that quality training time until January.

Moving Hazard up front means losing your key player and getting little in return. He's not a great finisher either... we are talking about a game where we did not create much. The best chance in the game was actually his (Eden's), and he put it wide.

Hazard scores goals because of his overall skill, but you put him up front and he will vanish, because he will be more easily contained (lack of spaces to move into).

I know you are looking for solutions, but we have none until Jan. If the two we have aren't enough we will need to sign players. We just don't have any player in the squad who can switch to a false 9 role, IMO.

The same would have been said about Mertens before moving to CF.

In the end we can all speculate and say, this would work, or that wouldn't work, but we can all realize that our CF situation is not good right now.

So, all I'm saying is to try it, how much worse could it be than watching Morata ask the ref to help him out in every tough match?  If it doesn't work, back to square 1.

He was in offside too many times, and he fell a bit easily sometimes. But some of those were actually almost penalty calls. I don't see any big "misses" or I don't know. Many players were rubbish in this Everton game, a lot more than Alvaro.

Curious. Who would you say was worse than him yesterday?

Jorginho and Willian. Kovačić in first half. Suspicious about Kante too. There are players which didn't screw up like Morata, but didn't do anything good either, and that's same shit for me.

Perhaps, but my point remains that the ‘test’ has a cost, and it could be a high one.

It’s not like we have wingers of edens quality lying around...

Sure.  But everything has a cost, including standing pat.  I just believe that Willian is a better winger (on the left) than Morata is a striker.  I think Eden is dangerous wherever he plays as he works best in a free role.

Next match against Spurs, might be asking for too much in such a high stakes match.  But, at some time, if Morata continues to disappear.

I wouldn't say they were worse, but

Azpi (pathetic going forward)

Jorginho (one of his few bad games, probably his worst)

Kante (regressed, one of his worst games in new position)

Barkley (sub)  little to no impact, shite passing (our biggest issue all game)

Willian (probably worst, even more so than Morata)

Pedro (sub) lots of running, little end product

Hazard  looks tired and beaten down physically, the thugball is taking a toll

were all poor, some very poor (Willian, Azpi, Kante, Morata)

Kepa, Luiz, Rudiger (MOTM), Alonso (unlucky to not score), Kovacic (our only MF with any sort of vertical thrust, especially in first half), and Cesc (sub) were oki

This makes me more astounded that Sarri decided to run him down straight after recovering from injury, against a fucking nobody team in EL away. What was he thinking?? Was it absolutely necessary? While CHO is rotting away, travelling along but playing useless minutes...

I like Sarri's style and demeanor, but his squad management has been questionable since taking over.

completely agree

it is worrisome

the CHO thing just boggles my mind

2 of our 3 other wingers (Eden and Pedro) have been on again off again injured and Willian has played so much he is getting worn down too

yet on his arse, CHO sits

I am so sorry, there is NOTHING magical about bottom half of table EPL teams

Dortmund starts multiple teenagers (and wins) versus fucking BAYERN

Sarri wont even play teens versus fucking BATE or the other League one level trash in our EL group

I'm with you on this one, maybe not as aggressively, but still. Let's see how the season goes, I'm saving my verbal bullets till the end of the season. If we win diddly squat and our best kids haven't progressed or worse, LEAVE due to lack of game time, I will spray venom from my tongue. Only thing that will excuse such choices across the whole season, is if we win the competitions in which they were shunned.

tbf that ricocheted into his feet from 2 yards with some power and a wicked spin. But ofc a natural striker would instinctively set himself up to give him a better chance of scoring. I remember Lampard scoring that exact same chance at least 3 times from the top of my head, including a winner at Everton.

Morata really should not have become a striker, just not cut out for it. If he had received the correct education he could have become a good winger with his pace and off-the ball movement which tbf is not too bad.

  • 2 weeks later...

I cannot express just how fucking frustrated I am with this absolute joke of a footballer.

His dumb look he gives when he on the floor, his hand and arm swinging when he gets out muscled again, and his absolute shite finishing is infuriating me.

We need to get shot of this joke ASAP.
