Man this is bullshit man, what the fuck does he want? And I for one will not claim he is replaceable, and is indeed a world class defender, minimum top5 for sure. Is in his prime, playing for WC manager, plays for an elite club going places, the fans are fond of him etc.......what the fuck is wrong with you Rudi? At least if you have your eyes set elswhere then be honest about it.

Top 20 CB's under 33yo

no real order (AC and Rüdiger make the cut, but not top ten IMHO, mainly becuase they are at their best in a back 3)

Matthijs de Ligt
Raphaël Varane
José María Giménez   '
Milan Skriniar

Tuchel questioned PSG letting players such as Thiago Silva and Edison Cavani leave on a free… this led to him and Leonardo disagreeing over recruitment and eventually his dismissal as manager.

Based on how much of a fan Tuchel is of Toni, not convincing him to sign a new deal would be stupid. Not that it would necessarily go that way for instance re TT and Leonardo but if he is a key component for Tuchel, it would make sense to try everything to get a deal over the line.

Thanks but imo there is not a better defender than Toni since TT came in, Lets hope he signs.

I don’t think he will be asking to be a top earner considering the likes of Werner, Kante, Havertz etc are on a lot more but he will want a pay rise for sure. Although this happens with 99% of all contract renewals so its only to be expected.

This is probably his last big contract too hence why he is maybe taking his time, with clubs like PSG and Madrid looking at him but I am sure we will make a good offer.

He has said he wants to stay before and his role in the team as well as Tuchel’s clear belief/faith in him so I doubt it will be a major issue unless we are going to not offer something reasonable to reflect his role here.

He wants 200k per week. PSG is after him, especially for free next summer they will give him huge signing bonus so I can see how this will end.

He is literally at the the hardest age to decide what to do with him.

He turns 30 in late winter next season, so IF we give him £200K PW for 4 years, you are look at him turning 30, 31, 32, and 33 midseason in those 4 years. Obviously at the end of the 4 years, he value will be very low, as the team that would sign him is buying a soon to be (that same season) 34yo CB.

Also, just how good (and importantly, healthy) during the those last 2 years of the 4 (IF we do re-sign him) when he he turns 32, and then 33 in mid-season us he going to be for US? Us the Rudiger of 3, 4 years from now going to be the same Rudiger as he has been the past year? If he does go down in quality, is it really worth paying almost £21m (£20.8m would be the cost his last 2 years) in salary for a rotational squad player, who will have very little value come the end?

I would be happy with a THREE year extension, at say £192.4K PW (so he can look at it as basically 10 million quid per year on the nose, £4,800 per year over 10m), then let him walk on a free at 32 year of age, as surely a Serie A club will still pay him a decent salary for 2 or even 3 years. I do not think shelling out another £10m for a 32/33 yo Rudiger is worth the extra year.

Whatever the case, it would be daft to let him walk on a free.

There's a reason why Rudiger is an almost constant member of our back line. You see all the other 4 position being rotated frequently by Tuchel, but Toni is always there.

There maybe better defenders out there, but his character is what makes him unique. Also, he's got bags of pace.

According to the latest reports, he's still stalling over an offer. Club's offering 125k pw. Shameful if true, considering how much the non-starters are earning.

Feel like he should pay compensation of those 200 k multiplied to Tuchel if he leaves for making him the player he is. Let's not forget most of us wanted him gone not so long ago.

Anyway his mentality had always been rather explosive and controversial, so no surprise with this shithousery.

As good as he has been these past several months, objectively, he's a defender that is largely supported by the system. All of them are bar Thiago Silva.

If he were to leave, I say go all out for Bastoni next summer.

I dont care if its the system or otherwise, he is still under TT a WC defender, he can walk in any team. If the club has really offered him 120K a week then thats a bad move by us.

He could at least double that at UTD PSG CITY etc.

Not saying he doesn't deserve a pay raise, just that the club have realised the situation objectively. Us as fans should as well. David Luiz looked like bloody Beckenbauer at times under Conte in 2017. The system is suiting the player vs the player suiting the system.

You stick VVD or Ruben Dias in place of Rudiger, we'd still be a rock. Can't say the same if Rudiger replaces VVD at Liverpool or Dias at City.

Why couldnt he though? As long as the manager is competent and motivational I dont see why Rudi couldnt. And what Rudi has shown under TT is imo far far better than what DL did under Conte. Nah Dias is nowhere near as pacy as Rudi, TT wouldnt put Dias there. Yes we cant just give in I agree but name me 1 defender better than Rudi atm? If he wants 200 then give it to him, he more than deserves it......have you seen how much Odoi makes?
