Mount has to play in the no 8 role as he has the attributes plus if Havertz is confirmed who will be our 10, Havertz & Mount would complement well because both can fit in the 8 & 10 role interchange as needed. Problem is Kante playing as the lone CDM which again we need someone like Mount/Kovacic who can cover it for Kante till Rice (iIF) is brought (one of the reasons why I dont want him to end up at CB). Also, post the re-start and before the kante injury, Barkley and mount did play most of that period together with kante as sitting. Also, I see us struggling to get enough of our deadwood shifted to just shift a fraction of our host of dregs. Rabiot is hardly a sitting dm tho. I don’t see why Kante shouldn’t perform next to kovacic. He is a resourceful player who does not only work in one system with one particular player type next to him. He can adapt.
