His number HAS to be retired when he retires. Been here all these years, will end career here, has all the respect for us, blue through and through.

Team player, who loves this club, proper leader and legend.

Youth product who actualy made it here. He is best thing we EVER produced. Maybe Drogba scored more goals, Lamps made more assists, but Terry is our lad. Started here at chelsea and on path to finish it too.

26 is not some big number, but its clear as day, it belongs to Terry.

I realy hope we retire it. He deserves as respect in the world.

Agreed. It may not be officially retired, but I doubt 26 will be assigned to anyone else any time soon, if ever.

His defending especially in 1v1 situations has been absolutely atrocious in recent weeks. If he carries that form into the next game. Aguero and co will run rings around him.

Well we shouldn't allow him to be exposed 1v1 so often. It's very poor team defending.

One will also expect "the best defender in the league" not to get beaten so easily and be able to cope in a 1v1 situation. This is what defenders are required to do all the time. It's not like he was getting exposed to 2v1 or 3v1 situations, that's when the team defending should be called into question.

Hmm, you can argue that Jimmy Greaves is probably the best we've produced, but other than that I completely agree with you.

Been thinking that, but he spend his best years in tottenham, maybe he was more quality, but certainly not more important for the club IMO.

Breaking News:

John Terry has been charged by The FA for violent conduct following an on-field incident which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
The charge is in relation to an incident involving the Chelsea defender and Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas which occurred in the 49th minute of the League Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge [Tuesday 27 January 2015].

Been saying that for ages, Kompany is vastly overrated. Look at when he was injured last year and Pellegreni played Demichelis with Nastasic for a sequence of games they looked better as a defensive line.

John Terry is one of a kind though, he will go down as the greatest CB of the Premier League era and rightfully so.
