The club told him no at the moment. He ran to the press.

No, the club told his agent over the phone no.

He can do whatever the heck he wants with that info and he decided that the fans deserve to know. He's obviously not happy with the decision and why should he be? He's done everything for this club and lead it to every major honor possible. He's also worked his heart out in training to still be the best defender at the club despite his age only to be rewarded with being let go while the wort player in the league gets a renewal.

He can work any angle he wishes to.

So when does Terry's time at the club come to an end? When he's 45? Who decides? Terry himself? The fans?

The board*. Yes, they can obviously do whatever they want and I can call them disgraceful morons with no values nor, worse, any football intelligence for it.

When he's not still the best defender in our team! Either when he does not wish to play any longer or when he does not still offer A LOT for the club.

Forget that it's Terry and forget that he's the legend and captain, if we are letting the contract of any of our nailed starters and key players in the team just expire, everyone would be livid because it is plain stupid business first and foremost and because it weakens the team without even gaining anything in return.

No disrespect Chou, but Terry is your favourite player and I think that sentiment is overriding any rationality on your part.

No matter when Terry left there was always going to be this reaction.

The smart thing to do with people like Terry (and Lampard) would be to keep them at the club in a sub-role and I don't know, teach the kids while keeping them focused at the same time. He's not worse than any other defender you have and Ivanovic gets a new fucking contract. And then people get mad when Lamps signs for City.

JT is a fantastic footballer but a cretin of a human.

Good that you know him personally. Speaking about football like we do here, saying he is a fantastic footballer would have sufficed.

At the end of the day, you'd be shunned away from all CFC pubs, shunned away from all Chelsea players who have played in our team with Terry, if you aren't torn by this. Imagine wearing a Barcelona kit, walking into the local pub and proclaiming you don't care about Xavi or Puyol leaving. Imagine walking into a Rome pub full of Roma fans, yourself included, to then share how fine you are with Totti's contract not being renewed. Imagine the day Del Piero left Juve, do you think any supporters were passive about the old geezer who's seen better days leaving?

Now let's take a great player who's old. Di Natate. If Udinese decide to stop offering him contracts, i don't know what will happen, the stadium might be torn down.

Every club's supporters have turned around saying "wait, what?" after letting Pirlo leave.

Tis nonsensical.
