Pizy 18,994
Just hope we don't buy yet another Cuadrado type who looks brilliant in a weak league and its 30m down the drain after he's sold in a season or two.

Don't watch Serie A so I don't know. I do know that his technique did not look too impressive on YouTube. While it proves nothing, at least we know, again from youtube, that Teixeira has a better skill set than our Columbian. Need to watch him actually play to decide if the Shakhtar man uses these skills well enough to make himself a better footballer but he's got them, and that's a start. He wasn't a stat machine in Italy but he had the aspects of his game that should've translated well to our team.He looked as though he simply forgot how to play football when he pulled on the Chelsea shirt. Suppose it also did him no favors that Willian took his game to the next level and prevented him from getting chances.Texeira to me doesn't look too impressive on YouTube. To be fair I thought the same about Douglas Costa and he now looks like a beast in the making at Bayern. He just looked like he was destroying really shit opponents and I didn't think he'd be able to do so against better defenders. Maybe this dude will be the same. Something to bear in mind however is that Costa moved into a better, more confident team than the one Cuadrado joined. To me the skill set of Teixeira looks a zillion times better than JC did on the highlight vids.I promise that I'm not trying to be argumentative but I also don't agree that Willian took his game to a different level. I think he simply wasn't as bad as the other options.

Pizy 18,994
Still trying to comprehend how/why this signing would make sense. We already have Hazard, Oscar, Willian, and Pedro. Two of those when fit (Hazard & Willian) are nailed on to start every match. Oscar is someone Hiddink clearly thinks highly of and seems to be a near lock to start. Pedro has been playing very well lately. Spending £30m on another AM who may not even be an upgrade on who we have seems stupid. What if our next manager doesn't like this type of player? Why not save the cash and make a run at AM's who we 100% know are upgrades and we have our next permanent manager appointed? We won't have CL football next season but if we manage to lure Simeone he's a manager who is probably attractive to top players. We may be able to lure Isco for example. I think it's clear we need to have two extras AM. We had Salah and Cuadrado. Gone, and now we got Pedro and need another one. It's just the right thing to do for a big squad with having ambitions in many cup competitions.

Yeah, there's sense in this move when you think about it. Young players receiving the time and care to develop here is a pipe dream so seeing the likes of Kenedy and Musonda in action is not happening. If Texeira joins, you have Hazard, Willian, Pedro, Oscar, Texeira. If he does well, he'll stay. If he doesn't do well, you can sell him after a year or two. Don't think Hazard or Willian will be going anywhere. If Oscar or Pedro isn't happy because of amount of game time, you sell one. In a fantasy world where big names will want to join Chelsea in the summer (I mean, come on), you can still purchase an attacking midfielder. Let's say Isco. The same rules will apply, survival of the fittest. The best play the most games. If you can't get in the team first XI and are unhappy, you can leave if good money is offered. A much better situation than the current 4 players for 3 roles situation, playing players out of position in cases of absentees and forced to play underperforming players. I personally would've prefered Sané but that's a fantasy purchase. Don't know Texeira well, videos didn't blow me away or anything but he could be really good.
