I was 'for' the 1 year contracts for over 30's rule, but I think every case should be judged on a player by player basis. However, If a player doesn't reach a certain criteria, i.e fitness/performance assessment/career projection, then fair enough.

Agree each individual case should be judged on its merits. Personally I would offer Cole a 2 year extension ,Lampard 1 year and consider JT's

when it arises.

Cole is still the best LB in the world at age 31. Doesn't that say it all? We need to keep him. Give him a 2 year deal at the least. Resting him will prolong his career and he can still be very good. I hope he retires from the National team soon.
