Loïc Rémy

Costa's suspension initially made me question Chelsea's ability without him and Remy has never fully inspired confidence but one of those games is against Newcastle who are a total shambles at the moment and shouldn't provide any resistance which will allow Remy to get a full Premier League game and prepare for the more physical challenge that Southampton will provide.

Costa has not been as effective as I would expect so far this season and to be fair that is more down to the midfield not getting the ball in to his feet quick enough and he has had to come very deep to get involved. This is not a strategy that will work with Remy and I'm curious how Chelsea will adapt over these two games, especially with an away trip to Porto sandwiched in the middle. Hazard will have to take on a more attacking role which will leave a bigger gap in the middle to be exploited by Southamptons quick counter attack.

His eagerness to impress is quite evident by the decisions he makes on the pitch. Occasionally,he will look to shoot and try for the odd chance instead of passing it around because he wants to be the second choice.

Unfortunately he gets overlooked by Jose because of the fact that the Portuguese wants to prove to everyone that Falcao is still a very good striker. To justify that, Falcao will need to play a lot regularly. However, if Remy continues to perform well then stats will eventually trump personal belief.

But the great thing is that we have a strong strike force and that we can depend upon them.

Being fair... since some players are getting a lot of flack around here.

Against Newcastle, Remy was a strong contender as worst player on the pitch.

That I can't disagree but we barely created any chances. We kept passing in/around the penalty area and hardly penetrate through that Newcastle defence. On top of that, we also kept lumping the ball up to him, which he was never going to win in the air against Coloccini. He wasn't great but the other players did him no favors either.

agree - attacking play was as bad or worse than defending.

But Remy's poor showing did not help either - he was terrible every time he got the ball. Some poor touches too whcih was actually surprising to me - I don't rate him as highly as people around here but still think he's a good player with decent technique.

Strikers suffer the most when the team behind him isn't clicking. This isn't surprising. But no one can claim Remy's a better striker than Costa. He's practically a ghost outside of finishing.

What worries me is why there are three strikers at the club and all suffer from a serious lack of skill? Three finishers, adding little to general play. That's so poorly managed.
