Would it? They're both outright #9's who have the ability to play with other forwards but are best as the leading man imo. I'm not sure either would be happy with that setup.

I actually think a partnership between them might work, Morata is a good header of the ball and wins ariel duels, that's Costa's biggest weakness, they complete each other  Won't see them playing together in Chelsea anyway. :D

Chelsea are in their rights to fine him, he should've been at Cobham long time ago, he is still under contract and that stupid interview made another episode of Holywood FC...That could've been prevented if he was brought back at Cobham on time. Look how Matic was training alone when it was obvious he will leave.

Costa said he `ll go extreme to get out of Chelsea. He declared WAR. Who wants a FAT and unfit ,trantum-filled player now ? Cant have him holding the club at ransom. He thinks he great and still acting stupid.Chelsea could kill him career if wanted to. Frozen him and he `ll be a spectator during the 2018 world cup.

In a situation like this, and for a club like Chelsea, I'd say making a statement and controlling players is far more important than money (because it can also lead to more money down the road).

I say let him rot, which will teach a lesson to other players in the squad (don't think Costa can actually learn anything).

Decisions has been made. We got replacement for him already. He knew since January he will be leaving. Atletico screwed up with transfer ban now he's in no man's land with no point if return because things went a bit too far.

The Brazilian-born Spain striker made three requests to leave Chelsea during the course of last season. After asking to join Atletico Madrid last summer, his intended destination in January was Tianjin Quanjian, of the Chinese Super League, before he reset his sights on Spain with a third request, which was granted towards the end of the campaign, leaving only the terms of his departure to be finalised this summer.

We're not getting the full story, but the bloke is a dick. We should keep him for the season and just fine him for every week he doesn't turn up. He could have actually come out of this situation with a lot of credit had he been a bit smarter and played the game.

Think Atletico Madrid is thinking of getting him Dirt Cheap. But  are they really willing knowing tht he might put up this sort of trantum there too ?  No player is bigger than the coach in any club, maybe Conte did wrong to tell him so early but not to respect the coach `s instruction during a game is a no no. Looks like Costa killed his career with his own hands. He can forget about playing in the 2018 world cup.Maybe a ball picker will suit him now .

All Atletico has to do is wait.

They will get him for next to nothing if we cave...which we will have to eventually.

That is the whole reason Costa is doing this the way he is. If he continues to play like we are holding him for ransom and that he is unhappy here and wants Atletico it drops is eventual sale price. For a guy who says he likes Chelsea and the support of the fans he is treating the club like crap. I will never side with him on this even though Antonio sent him the text he knew well before that he was gone and is using that as his excuse to act like a complete dick

I think he is hurting his own case, If he would stop talking I am sure Chelsea/Atleti would have agreed to a fee around 40m + performance add ons. Now the more he pushes Chelsea publicly the more they will dig their heels in and not be bullied and forced to bend to the will of a player. I can see us holding onto him, continue to Fine him until he comes back to train and get in shape. If he doesn't, I believe you fine him and let him waste prime years of his career sitting at home in Brazil. All sides have handled this extremely poorly since basically everyone knew the writing on the wall in January.

Edit: One bonus we have is World Cup year, he desperately wants to be in the Spain squad but if he doesnt play they can not select him. We can afford to pay him and fine him until he does what he is contracted by Chelsea to do. Ugly scenes ahead.

Doesn't make any sense. What good does it do Atleti if Costa eventually arrives there fat and unfit?

Chelsea is calling him to get back to train and become fit (if he wants to be sold in top condition) FFS.
If Atleti are even thinking of covering his fines (for something he's clearly in the wrong), what kind of example are they setting?

What if Griezmann throws a tantrum and doesn't show up if Barca is linked?

You see the same thing happening with Coutinho and Dembele, players have too much power nowadays.
