🇪🇸 Diego Costa

In all honesty he is the last one to be picking on if you are looking for a scapegoat. I would be more worried of the fact that him and Hazard are the only ones to be lighting the spark in attack at this moment. What does Willian add to this team really? Apart from work rate and a successful cross or two? Cuadrado's loan back to Italy looked like a stupid move from the beginning which I did not understand. Under Conte I bet he'd have added a lot more than Willian in the attacking areas, but I guess it was his choice to go back to Juventus, rather than Conte forcing him out on loan again. Then it's Matic who adds absolutely nothing offensively and Oscar who is the biggest enigma in world football. Maybe in a team where more offensive players would get involved in the game, Diego Costa would have less pressure, but when him and Hazard are pretty much the only players expected to be carrying the team on their shoulders when it comes to attacking play, then for me there is no wonder his antics get to play a big part so often.

Best game for us in some time.

More importantly, he never took it too far after the yellow card he received which is a welcomed change.

On the flip side, if curses hurt, he would have been screaming in agony from the abuse I directed at him when decided to go down without contact instead of try to score into the empty net when Fabianski came out and Eden almost beat him to the ball.

He did a very good match imo. I didn't feel it was the war some of you are mentioning. Yes, he missed a goal, but Eden's missed chance was worse, as the ball was too close to Diego in his attempt and he had to touch anyway he could while Hazard simply failed to control the ball. So if we are going to talk about missed goals, Eden was more a sitter than Diego's to me although Diego was in the box and Eden outside.

He fights, he runs, he gives his all and he still doesn't get proper service (while Cesc is rotting on the bench in favor of Matic and whatever defensive and offensive contributions Conte thinks he has better than Cesc). When he does get service, he's a threat. He misses goals here and there, but that's what strikers are about. He's got their defense booked and it was the crowd that made it look like a war because except for ONE SINGLE situation with Amat in the second half where they looked deep in the eye, touched foreheads but didn't kiss, Diego did nothing worth mentioning to rile up the opposition. I don't know what people could possibly be talking about in that sense.

At the end of the day he scored our two goals. I'll stick to that

Burnley?

He assisted one of the goals... the first one if I'm not wrong

Some pathetic posts today about Costa, who scored two good goals, and missed one huge chance. Too bad he missed it, but it happens to any strikers.

Yeah he complains and dives a lot, but his attitude is still worth so much to this team. Just look at everyone around him. We got Hazard who pulls out of just the sight of a tackle, Oscar who has absolutely no balls or fight in him, Willian who is just not performing well at the moment, and Matic who turns slower than a ship, and thinks slower than my beagle.

I would also like to see Batshuayi start a match, but I want to see him with Costa. Maybe this is possible in the next match, when Kante doesn't have to play as deep as he currently does, when Terry isn't in the defense needing cover all the time.

His close ball control was immense today. People seem to think hold up play is juts about your back to goal, it isn't. His hold up play going forward was immense, he had three on him at times and managed to occupy players by sheer dribbling and ball retention.

A masterclass for me.

He got fouled. Fabianski's knee went into his. Watch the replay. Definitely didn't dive.

Didn't dive. Wasn't fouled either. He ran into Fabianski then threw himself to the ground when the contact was no where near enough to bring him down.

Anyway, point is, the goal was empty. He should have taken a shot.
