petre.ispirescu 4,928
In all honesty he is the last one to be picking on if you are looking for a scapegoat. I would be more worried of the fact that him and Hazard are the only ones to be lighting the spark in attack at this moment. What does Willian add to this team really? Apart from work rate and a successful cross or two? Cuadrado's loan back to Italy looked like a stupid move from the beginning which I did not understand. Under Conte I bet he'd have added a lot more than Willian in the attacking areas, but I guess it was his choice to go back to Juventus, rather than Conte forcing him out on loan again. Then it's Matic who adds absolutely nothing offensively and Oscar who is the biggest enigma in world football. Maybe in a team where more offensive players would get involved in the game, Diego Costa would have less pressure, but when him and Hazard are pretty much the only players expected to be carrying the team on their shoulders when it comes to attacking play, then for me there is no wonder his antics get to play a big part so often. Amblève. and Blue-in-me-Veins

Normally, that will be a good day at the office for a striker. But when you consider his lack of a football brain and how many times he loses possession in the final 3rd, how many times he misplaces passes and how many times he completely loses control, (which had a negative impact on the team), he's still a liability. He already has 3 bookings already Give Batshuayi 90 mins. Let's see what he can do. Next season, get rid. Afterall, he's not Suarez, Aguero, Lewandowski or even Higuain or Benzema. Bring in Morata. If you can't control yourself and behave like a normal human being, Just go back to Atletico. Firstly. Are any of these players available that we can buy? No they are not. There is no striker out there better than Costa and is available. Secondly. He is a striker. He scores goals. Why the fuck you imagine him being Messi when he is not, I will never know. He doesnt have play in him blah blah blah. He is a fuckin striker and he scores the fucking goals. As long he does that, he does his job perfect. Thirdly. His mentality. Sure he is hothead. But has more passion than the rest of squad together. If Oscar and Willian wouldnt wank around on every second touch, it would help alot. Those two are actualy midfielders and are supposed to have some play in them. Oh maybe people want another Torres, the nice handsome dude who has good ball control. But wait, back then people only wanted him to have striker who scores goals. Make up your mind people. Costa is not perfect, but seriously all talks about Suarez etc. Go fucking see his games when he misses 5 sitters and then still scores 3 goals because he plays in fucking barca with their CBs having better offense than out AMs. Seriously get the damn point. We aint top team at the moment, but Costa is the best striker we can have atm. We have to fix GK, defense and midfield before attack. Beepu 1,714
Can say what you want about him that had been said countless times, but in the end of the day he scored both of the goals and ultimately goals are what matters. CHOULO19 24,332
Best game for us in some time. More importantly, he never took it too far after the yellow card he received which is a welcomed change. On the flip side, if curses hurt, he would have been screaming in agony from the abuse I directed at him when decided to go down without contact instead of try to score into the empty net when Fabianski came out and Eden almost beat him to the ball. kellzfresh and King11Didier

Barbara 15,149
He did a very good match imo. I didn't feel it was the war some of you are mentioning. Yes, he missed a goal, but Eden's missed chance was worse, as the ball was too close to Diego in his attempt and he had to touch anyway he could while Hazard simply failed to control the ball. So if we are going to talk about missed goals, Eden was more a sitter than Diego's to me although Diego was in the box and Eden outside. He fights, he runs, he gives his all and he still doesn't get proper service (while Cesc is rotting on the bench in favor of Matic and whatever defensive and offensive contributions Conte thinks he has better than Cesc). When he does get service, he's a threat. He misses goals here and there, but that's what strikers are about. He's got their defense booked and it was the crowd that made it look like a war because except for ONE SINGLE situation with Amat in the second half where they looked deep in the eye, touched foreheads but didn't kiss, Diego did nothing worth mentioning to rile up the opposition. I don't know what people could possibly be talking about in that sense. At the end of the day he scored our two goals. I'll stick to that 26 minutes ago, Jason said: Burnley? calculatingInfinity 1,472
Some pathetic posts today about Costa, who scored two good goals, and missed one huge chance. Too bad he missed it, but it happens to any strikers. Yeah he complains and dives a lot, but his attitude is still worth so much to this team. Just look at everyone around him. We got Hazard who pulls out of just the sight of a tackle, Oscar who has absolutely no balls or fight in him, Willian who is just not performing well at the moment, and Matic who turns slower than a ship, and thinks slower than my beagle. I would also like to see Batshuayi start a match, but I want to see him with Costa. Maybe this is possible in the next match, when Kante doesn't have to play as deep as he currently does, when Terry isn't in the defense needing cover all the time. mccg
Special Juan 28,141
His close ball control was immense today. People seem to think hold up play is juts about your back to goal, it isn't. His hold up play going forward was immense, he had three on him at times and managed to occupy players by sheer dribbling and ball retention. A masterclass for me. It was for me, in fact even in his prime his technical ability was average, it was his acceleration and athletic qualities that made him one of the best strikers in England. I remember Eto'o coming in and thinking how good it felt to finally have a forward who could at least do the bare basics right. The Skipper 20,609
Has anyone got a gif/video of when he butchered the Swansea back line with some really nice close control on the left wing after the ball got cleared to him?
Popular Post! The Skipper 20,609 Posted September 12, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted September 12, 2016 It was a quality performance from Costa. Two great finishes. Was very efficient with the ball - didn't lose it too much and actually linked up play a lot and well. Can't see how anyone would complain about his performance when there were so many others who were hiding for the whole game. Shocking. Just keep scoring Diego. I think he can grab 25-30 in all completions this season. 11Drogba, mccg, Blue Armour and 3 others

Anyway, point is, the goal was empty. He should have taken a shot.
