Pizy 18,909
Meh. I think it's just a bit of poor written English. Don't think there's anything in it. Like I said last night, with an injury prone player like Diego who's doing double sessions everyday and traveling around the US you don't necessarily want to push him too much before the real season starts. Could it be Adidas just taking the piss? I hope so. He REALLY isn't. Eden is the only world class player we have. Maybe Thibaut and Cesc at their best. But Costa isn't even close. I see players such as Aguero and Suarez a millions miles ahead of him, in fact a long way.
Leif 6,006
Costa is essentially the player Grant Holt was for Norwich. That's to say we'd get the same results with Holt from that time in our team now.
Abreu03 292
Obvious that Diego is a World Class striker, since 2012 comes in very large developments. The 2013/14 season was fantastic, if placed between the best strikers in the world, came to Chelsea and made a very good season (which could have been better if it wasn't for the injuries and suspensions), last season he was bad, ok, but who didn't? All had a year below what can. And yet it was the most effective player (goals + assists) team, and is only behind Kane and Aguero in numbers of goals in the last two seasons of the PL, imagine if Chelsea was fine? Available on the market there's nobody worth changing for him, the team would suffer a decay absurd if he really were sold. As a matter of fact that should never be considered, has so much junk on the team, one of the last names to enter the list of sales would be the second best, and important, player in the squad. Jase 43,479
Let's not forget Costa was only talking about getting better with the team next season yesterday - http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/chelsea-striker-diego-costa-we-cant-do-worse-than-last-season-we-have-to-be-in-a-better-position-a3306096.html So, I don't see why he would say all that if he was going to leave in the first place. That said, I would be lying if I said I'm not worried at the slightest.
Ryan Fong 2,776
I think it's just poor English. I'm sure he just meant thanks teammates for the victory or thanks the people who roots for Chelsea.
Pizy 18,909
Think Hazard's comments are much more concerning than Diego's vague picture. Hazard is literally irreplaceable whereas I genuinely think Lukaku could match Costa's output rather easily.

Blue_Fox_ 2,086
Aren't you lot overreacting for a simple picture? He's no English Ph.D. I've had to deal with illiterates my whole life (Diego is such a manner of person when it comes to English. I'm sure his Spanish is perfect.), I know how to read illiterate, he doesn't mean he's leaving. What's disconcerting, however, it's him being left out last night, but there are a million possible answers to that.
Popular Post! Barbara 15,149 Posted July 28, 2016 Popular Post! Share Posted July 28, 2016 If Costa isn't a world class striker, don't know what one is. He probably isn't a world class player because he does lack a few things, but complete players are hard to find and as a striker he's a game changer, a guy that has full merits in most of those goals. His movement is top notch and definitely one of the most important things for a striker, if not the most alongside execution. He's not plastic or technical and he should head better than he does, but lacking those things and still scoring as much as he does, with rare tap-ins, should prove his worth not detract from his quality as a player. I refuse to even think about having Lukaku to replace Costa. If that happens, it's two steps forward with Kante but then ten back in the striker department even with Barb'shuayi Sent from my SM-J700M using Tapatalk kellzfresh, Fulham Broadway, AWorriedChelseaFan and 8 others
Fulham Broadway 17,314
He'll play probably play against Madrid on Saturday. if he stays I'm gonna back him as top scorer, he should be fresh after not being involved in euros & no champions league & with a point to prove. #diegoworldclass Abreu03, Barbara, The Chels and 1 other

CHOULO19 24,332
I know there's a lack of top 'traditional' strikers everywhere, but you just can't call a player world class when half our academy has better technique than him - and I'm being generous there. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate Diego. I think his movement is among the best I've seen from a striker, his instincts are good and on form his finishing is exceptional. But, in addition to his lack of technique, he's weak in the air, his ball retention is almost nonexistent and his decision making can often be well below the level of the team; he chooses to dribble so many times, especially on the wings, despite the fact that he's so predictable and bad at it that even the weakest defenders can stop him most of the times. But all that doesn't take away from the fact that he can be an excellent striker if we play to his strength. To me, this is like when people were calling Matic the best DM in the world, or Thibaut the best GK in the world, almost no one without blue-tinted glasses thinks that. Doesn't mean that all of them aren't/can't be very good. killer1257
